Always been a favorite. Very comfortable place, great for, excellent service and friendly staff. Usually go for breakfast, but lunch is great too. The omlettes are really great.. And huge.. I mean huge. for the first time.. I had a salad there, and it did not disappoint. Definitely a local favorite.

The ambience is quaint with high backed booths giving privacy but sacrifices some of the grand openness of the old building.
The food was wonderful and hearty. This is not the place for light fair. You will leave full and satisfied well past lunch.
The staff were a bit frazzled and some mistakes were made with orders but they were quickly and politely corrected to everyone's satisfaction. We chalked it up to the rush and suspect it was the exception instead of the rule.
We left Feeling happy with our experience.

The wait staff was nice. Went with my mom to celebrate our birthdays. They were very accommodating and even brought us free Cinnamon Rolls to celebrate. But then our food came and my mom said what is this we both looked it was a rubber glove mixed in the salad. Accidents happen we show the waitress who immediately got the manager. She came right out and apologized and comped our bill. They offered to make something else but at that point. We were just done.

I have dined at this place many times and they never get my order correct. The history of the building as one of Redding's historic treasures gives this place an edge, and the food is good, but the bad service and the incorrect orders, or bad handling of food once it leaves the kitchen, are all examples of bad management. Many people make comment about the service and they do nothing to address the bad service or incorrect orders. It is a nice building to dine in, but the service makes it an absolute fail. Save your money and go somewhere else, but step in to look at the architecture and soak up some history.
I try to be nice and mention the history of the building, I try to be fair and mention the food as good in taste, and I am honest when I report about the lousy service, but they report back slanderous accusations like I was aggressive. Yes after being asked to leave I left. My son is still young and he enjoys the atmosphere of the place but he no longer desires to visit here either. Bad management exampled below. Customer conflict resolution = 0.

I also enjoyed the egg with mozzarella cheese paired with a toast and fried potato.

I always look forward in coming to eat here, especially for breakfast. The eggs Benedict are my favorite! The waitresses are very busy but will always take notice to fill my coffee cup! Great service and prices.

Breakfast dine in, Sep 26, 2022. Everything was outstanding, from the decor, to the server, to the coffee to the meal! My boyfriend was served a birthday cinnamon bun which had the perfect cream cheese frosting; not cloyingly sweet and perfectly cheesy! I had a 20oz Mount Whitney coffee which was absolutely superb. I also ordered the Deja scramble. Portion sizes were fantastic, the meal was hot, beautiful and delicious. My boyfriend had the two-egg combo with bacon. The bacon was thick and PERFECTLY cooked! All of this was served by Jamie O., who was a delightful sweetheart that made us feel right at home, checked on us an appropriate amount of times, and delivered our check appropriately but with no rush. It was an outstanding breakfast experience and I am looking forward to dining here again! Kudos to the management staff for a great restaurant! Thank you all!
