A real gem, genuine fine dining experience. Exceptional food! Wonderful wait staff. If there aren’t any reservation times available online, give them a call. Excellent wine money featuring various local wines plus some rare French wines. You choose from a 3-course or 5-course menu, or sometimes a special prix fixe menu that may include wine pairing add-on.
Some locals warned us that we “may be hungry after eating at Taste” but in my opinion the portions are perfect, reminiscent of European fine dining.

This lovely restaurant is hidden away from the madding crowd in the small town of Plymouth. It delivers a tasting prix fixe menu with top notch selections to choose from. We enjoyed a delicious filet mignon, rack of lamb, french onion soup was really delicious and very different from other places. The baby beet salad was literally scrumptious. When visiting the nearby Shenandoah valley wine country it is a great place to finish the day in the evening, possibly spending the night in the luxurious Rest boutique hotel next door, both offering similar levels of fantastic service. Highly recommended for those looking for new culinary experiences.

This was absolutely bar none the best restaurant I've been to in decades. As a world traveler and long time gourmand I have a little more than average experience with fine dining and can say that this was at the top of the list of best dining experiences. It not only tasted exquisite but was perfectly plated and the wait staff was dynamic and professional. What a treat to find something so well done in this small community!

My husband and I visited the sleepy town of Plymouth for a romantic weekend get-away. We stayed at Rest (fantastic) and were excited to eat at Taste. We were planning on ordering the pre-fixe, but opted to sit at the bar and order from there instead. The bar is a great place to sit as we had the chance to watch the bartender in action (she is phenomenal at her job, BTW) and chat with a few locals. It all led to a really fun evening!
My husband and I like to sample off each others plates and if ordering something we can split, we usually do this as well. The bartender overheard what we were planning and offered to bring everything out in courses as well as splitting the entrée onto two plates. This was fantastic customer service as we've given up asking since many places get irritated at the request.
We ordered the Mushroom Cigars as an appetizer (delicious if you are a mushroom fan - we are!). Our next course was the Taste Sandwich (split and placed onto two plates) and it was cooked to perfection. Our last (and most favorite course) was the Taste Burger with truffle fries (also split and placed on two plates.) Absolute heaven. The burger was prepared to our liking, had amazing flavor, and the truffle fries were crispy and a perfect complement to the beef burger.
We are excited for our next visit to Taste and have a list of things we want to try. There are so many times where we don't think that restaurants quite live up to the hype, but this place is excellent. From the excellent and personable customer service provided by the staff to the quality of the food. Five stars for sure from us!

Pricey, but good food. They do charge a corkage fee. Filet mignon one of the best I have had. Only downfall is it sat on a disgusting thing they called aioli. I asked the waiter twice if it was supposed to be that kind of texture and taste and she said, yes. Ok, then I rate that aioli a 0. Worst aioli I have ever had.
My friend had the salmon and it was very good. Leek and potato soup appetizer was good and dessert was excellent. It was the vegan dessert. My friend wish she would of ordered it. Staff was very good.

I haven’t even been into the restaurant and I am obsessed. I first tried their food at Rombauer during Big Crush Weekend and I was so impressed. I will be visiting the restaurant very soon.

Taste Restaurant opened for a private event to celebrate our friends birthday. The staff were amazing from start to finish. The food was delicious, I had the halibut, and others plates looked delicious. The bar was top notch and their Old Fashion cocktail was very nice. This is a gem of a quality place to dine. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a great escape in a small town.

We are reserved for our 4th eating expedition at this top notch cuisine serving institution! 👌 words cannot describe the joy their food gives my soul! It's like if rainbows and sunshine had a flavor, they'd serve it for breakfast. Seriously best food Eva.

Taste was a wonderful surprise. Very small town in Amador wine country. Wonderful food. Excellent service and a great atmosphere. We will go there again when we come back to Plymouth.

The staff alone are worth the 5 star review. Don’t get me wrong, the food is exquisite! The attention to detail in each dish is amazing. But the staff are the true shining stars here. Brianna was our server, and she made the entire experience special. Thank you, we will be back.
