Great motel in Lee Vining CA. Views, gardens, sitting vignettes and a super yummy cafe. The motel has shared bathroom options as well as private bathroom. Great stay over after exploring Saddle bag Lakes, Bodie Ghost Town and Bridgeport's Travertine hot springs. Not to mention the amazing am and late pm photo opportunities of or at Mono Lake.

Stayed one night in October 2013. Very charming little old hotel. Had a family room with shared bathroom on top floor. Confortable but not very convenient. Wi-fi did not work. Good location close to Mono lake. Beautiful on a sunny morning! Breakfast (not included) was simple but good. Overall, good for one night, not for a longer stay.

My only experiance here is the little cafe. I had read about it while planning my trip to Mono Lake. After having experienced other restaurants in the area the previous day (which we will never go to again) I told my husband to just try one more spot. And this is THE SPOT. I loved everything about it - except the outdoor place you wash your hands in cold water after using the toilet. But the breakfast sandwiches are absolutely lovely as is the garden area out back. The food and coffee were spot on. My husband and I ordered two different breakfast sandwiches and then split them. I dont know what his was but I ordered the Green Tail. Absolutely stupendous! Please keep in mind that everything written in this review is my opinion based on my experience and expectations. Your opinion, experience, and expectations may be differnt.

Cant rate lower than a one but I would give it a zero if I could. The motel Locked up shop after I called to confirm my reservation earlier in the day and let them know I would be a late check in. I arrived at 9 and the office was closed. Called but no one answered the phone, They had my name phone number AND email address but did not make contact that they were not going to honor my reservation. No where on their web site or on my reservation does it state that I must check in by a certain time.

Small cute place with character. Food was a bit pricey, but delicious. Time in our room wasn't adjusted for daylight savings time even though it was months ago which messed up our schedule in the morning.

VERY basic, old motel with convenient cafe attached to it. Friendly service but small rooms lacking maintenance with low water pressure, dead light bulbs etc. Intermittent and slow wifi.

Simplicity and comfort, clean and relaxing. A pleasant and mellow motel and great coffee shop with fabulous gardens and birds ( and awesome owner and associates!). Just a wonderful respite for the weary traveler or wondering soul.

The review is for the cafe "Latte Da", which is with this hotel. The cafe has great coffee selections, mocha with Mexican chocolate was great and they also have a vegan sandwich on the menu for breakfast!

As one of the more affordable hotels near Yosemite the el mono hotel offers clean and somewhat cramped accommodation with a couple of rooms with shared bathrooms. When you have a room next to the bathroom (like number 9) you can hear the noise of the ventilator in the bathroom next door all night long. While it won't keep you from sleeping after a day of hiking, it's definitely annoying and going over there and turn it off after everyone who took a shower is a pain. Less noisy machines would be great but a sign saying 'turn that sh** off' when you're done would suffice. That being said you should not look under the bed but that is a global problem it seems. In summary we can recommend this place as a base for day trips to Yosemite. For longer stays we would search for a room with bathrooms in the room though.

I called at approximately 11:30 am and was given prices for several rooms. I said I needed to ask a friend what room they wanted. I called back about 2 to 3 minutes later. I was then given a different price, by a different person. By about $33 more. Either the first person didn't know what she was talking about. Or the second person was trying to rip me off. Either way, if they are that uncoordinated, there are probably better places to stay.
To Response from the owner: Like I said, I called back 2 or 3 minutes later. If I was given the lower the price the first time, they shouldn't have changed after I called right back. Especially since I said I was going to call right back. The initial lady I talked to was very friendly and informative. The 2nd lady, not so much.
