Reborn Coffee - Corona Del Mar

TL:DR - Great espresso and filter coffee, along with a nice selection of coffee beans and gear for brewing at home. Barista was friendly, and the place has a nice vibe.

More details - it looks like Reborn has its own roastery (though not at the Corona Del Mar site), and I believe the brew the same beans they offer for sale... very nice single-origin beans (like the Ethiopia Sidama Bensa I bought a bag of to take home), which have been processed and roasted to bring out some very pleasing flavor notes. Definitely third-wave style coffee, which might catch you off-guard if you're used to more traditional roasty/bitter flavors, but I love the diversity and complexity of tastes that it offers.
I really enjoyed the shot of espresso I had here. It was a lighter roast, which in my experience is tricky to do well, but this shot was perfectly extracted - very nice sweetness, just the right amount of acidity, and a small amount of dryness/bitterness at the finish to balance things out. Texture was also very nice - heavy and almost syrupy. Outstanding!

The coffee is amazing: Smooth, rich, and brimming with personality. This small shop offers a better way to coffee. Better water, better coffee.

Ordered a vanilla latte and it was perfect. Not boiling hot I could drink it right away. Not overly sweet. I usually order my drinks half sweet because most places go overboard but I forgot to this time and thankfully they had just the right amount.

Came here yesterday cus I heard they have rose latte and I love anything rose. I ordered the iced rose latte with oatmilk and what I got back was just coffee with oatmilk. No rose, no sweetness, no nothing, just milk and coffee. I was really disappointed. Also, the lady who gave me my drink carried herself with a stank face and when she gave me my drink I said thank you and she looked puzzled and hesitated to say you're welcome. Like, she never hears anyone say thank you? Idk but it was weird. Not sure if I want to come back and try something else.

We’re here in SoCal for a few days to attend a wedding and we’ve come here nearly every morning. No Reborn in the Bay Area (that I know of), and tho I usually avoid chains, I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of their espresso drinks, which are also beautifully presented. Pretty good almond croissant too.

Really nice coffee shop, but wasn't all the impressed with the drink options. I'm not much of a coffee drinker, so I'll take that blame. The pastries and muffins were really good, definitely enjoyed those! I'd return for a 2nd visit, and probably would ask for a drink recommendation.
