They only do pour-overs, and it’s pretty good. Sought out a store to try it fresh after having tried the beans from the grocery. Philharmonic was surprisingly good with a sprig of mint resting on top. The staff were great and very concerned about ensuring I liked my drink. I’ll be back. ✨

My favorite Philz in the Oakland area. It’s saved in my maps and I always visit when I travel nearby. This location is clean, the staff is friendly and the facilities are good. Parking is easy too. I’ve never had a bad experience at this location (they aren’t all winners) - I will continue to keep coming back!

Mint mojito iced coffee , made the house way , Always delicious! Love the atmosphere, love it’s so close to home for a quick jolt when I need it 💕

Always a solid stop for your morning routine! Enjoy your favorite coffee blend profiles made in the famous Philz fashion.

Philz coffee is popular is the area, so if you want to skip the waiting line, better ordered beforehand. Love cold brew so much, the taste is different with Blue Bottle’s. I really enjoy coffee and friendly staffs here. Highly recommend to come if you want to start a good new day!

Oh what can I say? Nothing hits the spot quite like a large ecstatic iced coffee straight up. I need it, I crave it, I drink it every morning. I so resent the "light" "floral" notes that dribble out of a Chemex. I need it dark, rubber-y, burnt, roasted. I think the success of Philz is probably due to their special creamer and arsenal of sweeteners; so my preferences are perhaps not just idiosyncratic, but almost deviant.
But, even if they mandated I take my order doused in sugar, I would still be a regular. Because everyone in here is lovely and awesome and make my day better with their presence. I truly appreciate them. It's not about the coffee you drink but the friends you make along the way.

It's Philz!! Wish there was a site in Castro Valley to get my Mocha. So the drive to Berkeley after a golf game...or before being Philz opens at 5AM. Staff make you feel at home with their smiles and joyful welcome.

Philz coffee is never hot, always luke warm. I really like the flavor of the coffee, but every time I order a hot coffee with a little cream and sugar, it’s like it was left out for 25 minutes to cool off. I used to really like coming here but since they can’t make a consistent cup of hot coffee, I’ll only come for iced drinks in the future.

Definitely the worst for online orders as I’ve been sitting here for closer to 30 minutes waiting to pick up my order…. For two drinks and a burrito as I see others are getting their drinks well before me, and even those who arrived well after me, this is a complete disgrace. The best part was, there was no apology from the lady or even a thank you for waiting, or anything.

It’s genuinely sad to see what the Philz experience has become
You used to be called up to the directly to the bar and the barista making your drink would chat you up, talk you through the options, get to know your tastes and preferences. It was a personalized experience - they put a face to every order.
Now you order at the register, the barista presumably gets your name and order send to them on a screen and sets out your drink alongside a stream of mobile orders.. it’s fast-food-ified, almost mechanical. Feels like i’m at a Starbucks
The coffee is still good but in my opinion there is nothing more or less special at this place than at *any* other coffee shop in a 5 mile radius.
As someone who was a customer at Philz since it first opened in the Mission and worked at the Shattuck location for over 3 years, I am shocked and saddened to see these changes. I remember hearing that Phil started this business wanting it to feel like each customer was a guest in his house being made a cup of coffee..
Well, it was nice while it lasted
