Spacious and usually very quiet. Great place for working over coffee. Quality of coffee is good too unlike most places in Tuscaloosa.

Monarch is exactly what Tuscaloosa needed. The coffee is from Lyons and honestly could compete with some of the best shops in Portland or Brooklyn. The look, feel, and overall service is beyond 5 stars.

Great coffee, breakfast and baristas! If you're in Tuscaloosa check them out!!

Best espresso in town, Friendly service, and great pastries. Only complaint is that they aren’t open for inside seating right now and don’t seem to have any plans to in the near future.

Monarch is my favorite study place in Tuscaloosa. Chill atmosphere, friendly staff, tasty coffee. Perfect.

Nice coffee shop with a small selection of eats. Plenty of space to have a seat and relax. Food options could be expanded to include an egg-something or something just a bit more substantial than yogurt and banana.

Monarch is the best coffee shop in Tuscaloosa, and one of the best I’ve ever been to! Love the owners. Love the decor. Everything is incredible!

Quick service, fantastic cold brew, and good avocado toast. Also played The Louvre by Lorde on the radio so that was a fantastic. Would've posted a picture of the avocado toast but it was so good I finished it too quickly.

Finally, a much needed third-wave/specialty coffee shop in Tuscaloosa!
I ordered a pour-over, which came out to $4.09 after tax. Monarch looks to exclusively brew coffee from Lyons Coffee Roasters located in Florence, AL. They brewed me what I believe was the Ethiopian Hambela, which is a natural processed coffee that is grown at higher altitudes, which should be somewhat fruit-forward.
Monarch's brewing process is right on the money. They brew in a chemex, and take care to use Fellow Stagg kettles for their water. My coffee was fruit forward, leaning more towards blueberry and currant. Overall, I think the only thing that could be improved is the roast itself. For what I would expect, the coffee could've been more tart and juicy. I'll be back here often!

Decent coffe and friendly staff. The ambience is perfect if you're looking for a place to study or get work done.
