Monarch Espresso Bar

I have no complaints. I had the avocado toast and a decaf slow drip coffee with lavender in it. I was thankful they had nondairy options for my husband. It was a very popular place so we shared a table with some people we didn’t know. Our food and drink came out in a timely manner. It looked so good I forgot take a picture until I had already started eating.

Amazing coffee! Had a latte and cappuccino as well as Lemon Blueberry Scone (freshly baked and so good) and Jalapeño Cheddar bagel with bacon, egg and cheese! Friendly service, nice location and great for working or sitting with a friend!

Really the only good espresso in town. Got just a single shot of espresso and it was delightful - not too hot, nice creme that added a subtle sweetness and nuttiness to balance the bitterness of the rest. You'd otherwise have to drive to Birmingham to Red Cat for a good cup. Can't speak to the other options here, but if their espresso alone is this good, I would have confidence in the rest.

Edit: we got a lavender vanilla scone and it was stellar. Flavor balance was just right and it wasn't dry - a most, supple scone. Would recommend.

Was driving through and stopped by here on a friends recommendation and can say I will for sure be back. Coffee was excellent, food was great, and service was super friendly. Honestly wasn’t sure what to expect and every thing about Monarch exceeded expectations. Prices were reasonable also:) Be sure to check it out!

Monarch has the highest quality espresso-based drinks in Tuscaloosa, and their cold brew is very good (nice and strong) as well. I only wish they would offer a larger size for cold drinks (closer to a Venti at the corporate competition). While I love Monarch's cold brew, I find even the large to be too small.

Go have a cup! I am so happy this place is downtown. I am actually glad that currently, during the Covid crisis, that service is only outdoors. They have some cool outdoor furniture. An Italian friend told me, that this place has the best cappuccino in town. I agree. It is very creamy and tasty. My wife loves the jasmine green tea. I had a cinnamon roll that was excellent. It was not so big that it would choke a horse, but it was just right. They have some great procedures to keep you safe. Each table is sanitized after use. And of course, since you are outside, it is relatively safe. We will be back.

- coffee I wanted i was an iced caramel latte, I got something that tasted like a vanilla latte with maybe a dash of cinnamon
- they did give me a free coffee coupon but I gave it to some random person as I would never go here again

We were looking for a trendy coffee bar that offered food and could not be happier with Monarch! Extremely friendly staff, excellent food (we tried the almond butter toast), and a nice espresso! There are tons of tables to sit at while you enjoy your coffee. I do wish there were some additional outlets for laptop charging, but other than that, it was a really nice experience. We will be back again!

Great place, definitively the best coffee in Tuscaloosa. Brewing coffee from Lyons Coffee Roasters, and espresso from Revelator. Nice space! The third wave coffee shop that Tuscaloosa has needed.

We absolutely loved this place. I dont know how, but they managed to make a big space feel cozy without it feeling cramped. The coffee was delicious and the latte art was so cute! We also tried the avocado toast and it was so, so delicious! We will definitely be coming back!
