I went there for lunch today and walked in around the same time as a 13 top, our two tables were the only ones in the restaurant at the time. I had to wait 15 minutes before I was brought a menu due to the waitress taking and bringing the table of thirteen their drinks first. After waiting over an hour for my food I asked for it to go. When I got home my chicken fried steak was just thrown into a box with fries on top ( according to the menu it is supposed to come with gravy, potatoes and a vegetable) while my friends burger was too burnt to eat. Would not recommend at all, you can basically get the same things at Heggs for a fraction of the price.

Definitely inviting on the outside, but lacks in customer service. From my observation the customers sitting at the bar seemed to be locals and were very much attended to and treated well. We on the other hand, were passing through Afton and did not receive the same service and respect. If you are looking for food and just passing thru,,,seriously would not recommend it. My parents who were with us are born and raised in Afton. In fact, my mom who knows the owner of Colter's very well was very let down when she witnessed how the waitress handled the cooks mistake. She had all the control and ability to make things right but made no attemot to do so, not even an apology for making me wait 10-15 minutes for the other half of my order. Then by the time she brought it, the food she initially brought was cold. I served tables at Alice's Restaurant in West Yellowstone for years and whenever a cooked messed up ticket like that we apologized, explained what happened, and even asked the customer what kind of discount is needed to make up for our mistake. We did this because providing a good experience to our customers was our number one priority and reason we did the job. Anyway, go to pizza hut or burger king. They are near by and you will get better service and pay less.

The decor was rustic and had a nice old west charm. The help was friendly but a little laid back. Had an extended wait for our lunch. We had sandwiches that were ok but a little expensive. Onion rings were very good.

New owners. Hit and miss on breakfast quality. Friendly staff , on the ball bringing you what you need and ask.

Horrible service. I walked in and the gal with short brown hair just said what do you need? After i got comfortable she came back and said oh you cant have these items, sorry i forgot. I feel bad for the old couple next to me. She asked what kind of soup and the lady replied tomato bisque...or something that looks like it. I was like wow. I just left. Plus im not spending that kind of money on an 8 oz steak that i can cook better

Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, delicious food, many vegetarian (and also vegan) options, child-friendly, food served on porcelain dishes (good for the environment)

We waited over 30 minutes for breakfast items. When they finally arrived, the food was luke warm at best and not cooked properly. No apology for the wait. We would have been better off going to Burger King. I am leaving hungry, very disappointed. We would not recommend this place to anyone, go somewhere else!!

Took an hour to get breakfast from time to order. If you have lots time & patience, give it a go. They were understaffed so hopefully they can improve. Omelet and hashbrowns were good.

Terrible dinner experience, we waited close to an hour for 4 burgers and it was not busy. The service was less then good, and to top it off was charged a 20% gratuity. I can not recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Cool atmosphere. No apparent hostess initially. Good burger. Nice staff.
