Coco - Artisan Bakery & Good Eats

Any trip to the Ashland/Bayfield area is never complete unless a stop at Coco has been made. The bread is great, the food is wonderful, the baked sweets are a delight. We especially like to get the wrapped cold sandwiches and pack them as lunch for hiking adventures.

Great artisanal baked goods, breakfast, lunch, and good coffee to boot.

There are too many good things to list, but here's a few: local ingredients! Absolutely everything that possibly can be local, is! This is the best restaurant I have ever been to for prioritizing local ingredients!

Dietary restrictions- there are plenty of vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free, nut free, and more options, and they are just as tasty and interesting as everything else is!

1/2022 Covid-19 update: Covid precautions in place, and all transactions are takeout only. Bonus is that breakfast is now available all day!! I recommend ordering online or calling ahead if you don't want to wait outside.

My favorites: Bronco breakfast sandwich, Banh Mi, lemon cheesecake, and Bialy.

Cocos is an amazing eatery and bakery. They use local and organic ingredients when ever they can and have lots of vegan and vegetarian options. They have Big Water Coffee Roasters coffee which is amazing! Come for breakfast or lunch but leave with some bakery. The breads are amazing and I can't begin to sing the praises of their cookies and other sweets loud enough. I plan for a drive the 1 plus hour drive up to Lake Superior/Bayfield area every month or so, at least partially for a stop at Cocos

North woods Gem! They do everything well. Baked goods, coffee, made to order food. We met friends for breakfast. Local scratch ingredients. I had scones, husband had a frittata. Others had the fried polenta. All of it excellent. Got cranberry wild rice bread for home. Very busy. We had been to a wedding the night before which they had also catered. Really well done, cupcakes instead of cake. Excellent!

Discovered this gem this summer on the recommendation of friends while on vacation. Came back 2 days in a row after we tried their Lake Trout Rueben sandwich- to DIE for! Also tried all sorts of bakery items- raspberry cheesecake danish was a hit! Will definitely be back.

We ended up going back a second day it was so good, and after trying a wide assortment of baked goods, I can confidently say that they are of excellent quality. I would personally recommend the Cinnamon Roll, maybe split between two people.

This place was recommended to us by the Bayfield Chief of Police. We were leaving bayfield early in the morning and thought ' who would know where to get coffee and donuts better than a cop.'
Driving south out of Bayfield I wasn't expecting much but he was soooooo very right.
This shop was amazing! Everyone in my family ordered something different and it was all delicious. We don't have anything that comes close to this shop locally and it's very tempting to move there just for their pastries.

My wife tried two of the coffee shops in Bayfield and the one on Madeline Island—Coco’s beat them all for the best mocha, hands down.
We also enjoyed the blueberry turnover and cinnamon roll. Delish!

We were just passing by and stopped, so glad we did! They have marvelous bakery items, fresh bread and scones, muffins, turnovers, tarts & more. Sandwiches to order and some already made up, homemade soup, coffee & more. All are excellent quality.

This place has the kindest employees and the place just has a warm feeling to it. Sometimes I stop in for a few hours of work and get the bottomless soup. The soup is so good, I usually get 3-4 bowls in. It's perfect for those winter days.
