Barista was kind enough to give me an extra side of mansplaining a macchiato to me. I didn’t go to Starbucks for a reason.

Terrific downtown coffee shop that makes the tastiest milkshake I've ever had (I get the mocha but it probably doesn't matter). They also make all kinds of teas, coffees and sandwiches, and offer a huge selection of wines.

Great coffee, great food, great service, great space.
The wine selection is phenomenal. I can always find something good and in my price range ($10-15) but I don't mind splurging once in awhile because I know it will be good.

I won’t go to any Barriques anymore because of their previous insistence on roasting all of their coffee in a residential neighborhood despite numerous complaints from neighbors. Only when the city forced them to stop did they do this.
The coffee and everything else at Barriques is fine. I just prefer to do business at a more neighborhood friendly place.

I've only ever visited in the evenings, but there's still plenty of traffic in & out. A great cozy place to meet up with friends & grab a beverage - not just your typical coffees and espressos, but also wines, italian sodas, & more. A delightful visit, and I hope it won't be so long before my next.

Every time I've ever gone to Barriques, I've ordered the same sandwich. I can't remember what it is called, but it has mayonnaise, avocado, bacon, and turkey. It is so ridiculously amazing. They cook it to order, but it's always out super quickly. You get a bag of chips with the sandwich. I recommend the Voodoo chips. They have tons of spice and are awesome. I normally just buy a soda to go with my sandwich because I don't drink coffee. My husband frequently buys coffee from Barriques, though, and genuinely enjoys it.

Great tuna melt and there is a nice area with trees to sit outside.

I love Barrique's and appreciate it more when I've been away for awhile. The Monroe street location is probably my favorite for people watching (I once found myself seated between a couple on a first date AND another couple who were breaking up, it was drama central for the people-watching introvert!), and for meeting with friends (I used to live in the area) but it gets a bit crowded. The capital location or down Park Street are probably better for getting work done. Each seems to have its own personality even though the decor is very similar.
What to order? The miel. Absolutely. I get mine with half the honey, because its a bit sweet, but all of their lattes are well made and taste fabulous. The drip coffee is strong and will absolutely wake you up and get you going.
I'm sure that most of their sandwiches are great, but I always get the turkey club and I'm always happy with it, so I can't say much about the others.
Enjoy this place if you can!

I used to think highly of barriques 5/6 years ago but it's really gone downhill. The ambience really is attractive but other than that there isn't really much to offer unless you are there to by a item that is sealed or bottled.
To name a few things; customer service severely lacks, there is extremely slow service, bakery items seem to be dry, stale, or covered in some kind of grossly sweetened goo, mediocre food items are over priced, and the place is just dirty all over(dust, flies, sticky tables). I've tried giving different locations a try over and over again thinking maybe it was just a bad day there, maybe it was the person at the counter that day, but no every time just one disappointment after another. I think I'm finally done with giving this place any more tries and will move on to the next best competitor. At this point it shouldn't be hard to find a better place.

Pastries are always undercooked. Scones are almost raw in the middle. Service can be fast or agonizingly slow. Coffee is very caffeinated though.
