Anthem Coffee & Tea | Downtown Tacoma

Neat little coffee shop right in the heart of downtown Tacoma, across the street from UW Tacoma. Prices for coffee are reasonable. The selection is decent, but not great - only one roast available when I went, and it was just a "medium roast," no further info available. No pourover or French press either.

I like the feel and the atmosphere. This would be a good place to hang out for an hour or two, killing time between classes. I wouldn't go much longer than that, since there aren't any really comfy chairs or anything.

I just visited Tacoma for the first time and found Anthem my second day here. I always try to find local coffee shops when I travel because I love coffee and supporting local. I tried a few in Tacoma and was convinced that the city just had bad coffee lol! Then I found Anthem and fell in love. This was one of the best coffee's I had ever had. I went out of my way to stop here again right before leaving town again because I couldn't stop thinking about how good it was!! Highly recommend!

We were very happy to see that,vehicle complying with current safety requirements, that Anthem's downtown Tacoma location had their seating area open! Also, always excellent coffee!

I'm a local street musician playing in the downtown area for over six years. Used to enjoy getting my coffee there every day. Just today I needed to use the restroom badly. It was locked. I asked the Barista if the bathroom required a key. He looked at me with distain and replyed " The bathroom requires a Purchase ". Anthem used to be cool, but no more. I'm done. I think his demeanor was rude. Too bad,

This is a great place to stop in for a coffee and light bite. The staff is super friendly and the beverages are quality. Definitely a good meeting place for small group as well, just know it is popular with the college students when school is in session.

Very pleasant, light and open place, with a cozy yet stimulating environment.
Delicious, high-quality coffee and pastries/breads.
They are also laid-back and flexible with people who want to stay a while and study or meet for business.

Had a meeting at Anthem yesterday and loved the coffee shop. Coffee was great, baristas were professional. Flatbread was real good. Great vibe. This coffee shop fits well in the downtown area of Tacoma. I'd love to come back in the evening sometime to enjoy some live music.

I've been to a couple of Anthem Coffee and Tea. They have amazing coffee! Also, their baristas are friendly and welcoming. It's a great place to hang out or meet up with a friend to catch up.

I like the atmosphere and the placement. It has large windows a little stage or a lot of seating. Great for studying and good coffee! It's a tad pricey but meh what isn't these days.

I'm an older adult who popped into this cute place today. Metal, wood, (reused) decor, vaulted ceiling and best of all, a breakfast sandwich to beat Starbucks! Yes, its $1 more, but they DID have it to serve at 2 pm in the afternoon, and you 'get' more than a $1's worth... it's larger in size, generous portion of bacon, and the cibatta bun is sprinkled with seeds. I did have a latte, so I couldn't taste the coffee as well had it been 'just' coffee. But if ever nearby again, Anthem has my business!
