Cloud City is my favorite coffee shop in Maple Leaf. I love how it attracts a mix of hipsters, families, and older people. It's got delicious baked goods and yummy coffee. My favorite is the maple leaf latte! Love the outdoor seating out front, or if you need your coffee to go, it's really easy to order ahead using the Joe app.

There are a few craft coffee shops with great roasts, and there are coffee shops with craft baristas. Seldom do you find really great craft roasts and really great barista craftspeople in the same place. Cloud City has both, and still maintains an amiable atmosphere with a fun selection of clothing and gear. And when I got an order that wasn't what I expected, there were no questions about whether the mistake was mine or behind the counter--it just got quickly fixed. THANKS for being here!

tl;dr - overpriced, stuck in 2020
had heard good things about this coffee shop and I’m new to the neighborhood so I came to check it out, after seeing tasty hot sandwiches on the menu and google maps.
I show up and it feels like I stepped back in time to winter 2020. It’s an unseasonably cool summer day in the 50s. Tents and seating set up outside, entrance/exit only signs and ropes set up to direct traffic accordingly, with no seating indoors.
Oh well, I’m still excited for a sandwich and espresso. I buy an italian and a cortado, it comes out to $20. I know things are pricey these days but that seemed excessive But for a good lunch it’s worth it, and it comes with a side! My sandwich shows up immediately, so I’m confused. Turns out it’s a cold sandwich. Cellophane wrapped and tossed in a bag.
The wait for the coffee was a decent bit longer. Someone before me had to have his drink remade twice. It finally shows so I take my lunch to eat in the cold on a wobbly table out front.
My cortado is pretty solid! No real complaints. A bit darker roast than I go for but that’s a preference thing.
The sandwich tastes like you’d expect, out of the cold case from somewhere like Ken’s Market. The kale slaw is pretty decent.
Overall, I’m left wanting more. Save your money and grab a sandwich from PCC for a deli experience. If you want a good sandwich there are better options in N Seattle.

Love that I can send order in and then hang out on covered patio..

Good coffee but on a Saturday it’s about a 15-20 min wait for a coffee after you order, which seems excessive. The staff are working as fast as possible but perhaps they need another espresso machine for peak times?

I left the pick-up line to run to my Airbnb down the block and discovered someone had stolen my sandwich which came up while I was gone. The staff were lovely and made me another. Very tasty croissant brekky sando. Don’t leave your food unattended here!

Great espresso, "Honor bar" of drip and tea for quick fill ups, single origin and multiple types of pour-overs, excellent baked goods, and friendly people. What else could someone want in a neighborhood coffee shop?
2023 Update: I still love this place!

Who doesn't love to have coffee and a pastry on a Sunday afternoon? The raspberry almond scone was delicious! And I've never drank coffee that I didn't appreciate (except American Airlines coffee, stay away from their coffee).
