Reveille Cafe used to be one of the coolest things at Fort Warden State Park. A hidden gem that most Port Townsend locals didn't even know about.

Two and a half years since my last visit and those days are gone.

There is no indoor seating except for three tables...and they're all stuffed into one corner, "because of covid." No six-foot spacing required.

The hardy breakfast and lunch fare served on real plates with actual flatware is a thing of the past. A sandwich now comes in a paper french fry container and plastic " break-in-your-mouth" utensils are available.

I asked if I should sit outside so as not to take up a four-top table. The staff were confused, not knowing what a four-top table was or a two-top table for that matter.

The disinfected personality free staff informed me that the breakfast sandwiches were not available... after being open for 1-1/2 hours. It was the only breakfast item on the Sunday breakfast buffet menu.

I chose a toasted chicken sandwich that was crunchy and delicious on the outside but the bread was soggy on the inside. The chicken was tepid slices of pressed meat; cheese melted around the edges but not inside. The vegetables had been taken out of a pre-packaged salad; mealy tomato wedges and unstemmed spinach.

Tables unwashed, "for covid," I'd imagine. Bathrooms were tragic but the cleaning logs were all checked off. The gift shop is now storage; look through the glass door at stuff you can't have.

Post Script - I've been here in Fort Worden State Park for 4-1/2 hours and have yet to see a ranger.

Coffee is good. They have 3 different kinds of croissants. Overkill I think, a Danish or 2 would be better. Or any other choice. Who needs 3 flavors of croissants?

Reveille at The Commons, Fort Warden, a real hidden gem, a must try.
Every time we camp at Fort Warden, we make sure to stop at Reveille
for something good to eat (sandwiches, soups, pastries, cookies). Open for the breakfast and lunch crowd, their grab and go menu is creative with just enough variety, and the food is always delicious. Several pastry offerings are a real treat with coffee or tea. And the cookies, WOW, they are made in-house and are exceptional!! Our compliments to the talented baker! The staff is welcoming, friendly, and efficient. Right now, there is limited seating inside but ample seating outside, next to The Commons building, or multiple picnic tables around the grounds for a more private setting. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Reveille to anyone
visiting Fort Warden or, for that matter, Port Townsend. Check out
Reveille at The Commons, you won’t be disappointed!

The brunch is amazing. Never been to a wine dinner but I hear they are great. The rest of the time the coffee is good but most of the deli items are too sugary (pastries) or too expensive (meals, sandwiches) for my tastes. They have some good specials though! Staff is very friendly. It's best to only sit with your laptop there when it's slow, so as not to take up space when all the folks at the fort need a place to sit and eat lunch.

We have dined at this Fort Worden Eatery a dozen or more times. The menu changes often and we've never had a bad experience. The ambience is delightfully quiet and comfortable. Service is excellent. We haven't attended the special wine tasting events but have heard from friends that they're extraordinary.

Delightful! Still short staffed due to the pandemic, so no table service, but we enjoyed a delicious decaf latte, breakfast burrito with abundant fixins’ and an engaging conversation with Alex (manager) about the state of *things.* Thank you! A Great discovery here in one of our favorite towns. 💜💙💚

Inedible breakfast sandwiches. Pastry offerings were one type of scone. Mocha was not hot. Very disappointing and embarrassed to bring my guest there.

Poor service and rude staff that seem like they don’t want to be there. Overpriced food options. Better options in town. NOT RECOMMENDED!
