Not sure how to rate this place just yet. The business model is a little bizarre! They open at 10 on a Saturday morning but don't serve breakfast until 11. I don't recall seeing any clear information on their website that stated that. The website is not very user friendly either. We decided to get there right as it opened so that we could beat the crowds because we heard it was an amazing place to eat. We very disappointed to find out that they were only serving pastries and either drip or French press coffee. We did stay and try some but it was definitely not what we were looking for. The ladies in the restaurant were nice but it was a bit disheveled because they were preparing for some event that was happening later that morning. We don't know the food was because we didn't get to try it. We will try again some other time when we are back in town. The atmosphere is very quaint and we definitely enjoyed the aesthetics of the place. Hopefully they live up to their reputation.

My new favorite place to eat! The food is delicious with a menu that changes depending upon availability, farm to table. The ambiance is so comfortable and inviting. My two favorites paired, great food and books. The plates even look like opened books! I’m in love with this cafe and am so happy they have opened here in Montesano. Can’t recommend enough. Love it!

I wish I could give them 10 stars.
We came on the most perfect day. It was snowing on the day that my wife, mother-in-law, and I came. My wife and I had the pumpkin bisque, braised pork with apricot sauce and couscous with brussel sprouts and my mnl had the fisherman's pie (something close to that). Then we finished off with a cupcake and bread pudding. I made the obnoxious request to only warm up a little of the bread pudding (so we could have some on the way home) and they were so incredibly nice to do it and were just incredibly friendly the entire time. Food was divine and the location is perfect. This place is a top 10 favorite for me.

Was just passing by town and caught site of this place. Absolutely magical ambiance. Family-friendly. Kind and accommodating staff even though it was just two employees carrying the whole place. Everything we ordered was delicious!!! So lucky to have stopped here

We stumbled across this gem while celebrating the completion of a stressful case at the courthouse. Arriving at the unfortunate hour between lunch and dinner service, we were delighted to find the kitchen still serving soup of the day, goat cheese and rosemary bread, and an assortment of pastries. We sat at the cafe tables outside, and the kind and friendly staff brought out water glasses and tableware. Everything was so flavorful and the bread was wonderfully soft - even the plates were cute book shaped pieces. It's clear that the proprietors put love into everything they do here.

Cute place, clean and beautiful. Great cafe style menu and carefully curated selection of books and gifts. Will definitely become a patron!

Listen, I’m going to start by saying that anything I write here will never convey just how lovely Lemon Hill is. It’s a GEM in Montesano, the town is so lucky to have it! Every detail, every thoughtful detail is pure perfection and it truly made me feel like I was in a cafe around the corner from Hotel Duquesne Eiffel (which I’ve been so I know exactly what it really feels like!) Now let’s get to the food, that’s right, I haven’t even touched the food part yet! We, being the foodies we are, ordered one of everything, we were excited to try everything before this current menu gets changed out for the fall menu next week! The ratatouille with cheesy grits and goat cheese; MY GOD. The goat cheese brought a lovely creaminess and the grits were dreamy. The Niçoise salad; the dressing was light and acidic, I’m thinking a champagne vinaigrette of sorts, accompanied by earthy saltiness from the capers and the kalamata, topped with hard boiled egg, HUGE, GORGEOUS heirloom tomatoes, fresh crunchy green beans, colorful fingerling potatoes and a hefty portion of poached tuna. YUM! The African braised beef was so flavorful and tender atop a couscous with warm African spices. The Chicken Marbella atop a Moroccan coucous with sweet dates funny enough tasted like the holidays. Warm and sumptuous! The Strata was fluffy and delicate, but filling and so flavorful! BUT THE CROQUE MONSIEUR. That’s what brought me right back to Paris. I love the local rye bread from another small business, it was the perfect touch. A warm fork and knife sandwich with a fluffy, yet creamy toasty cheese topping. I might need one more before the menu changes! The baked goods are simple and done so WELL, that chocolate cookie is sinful! Okay, now that I’ve written a book, it brings me to my next point. The books! They have a great selection of gifts and books! Please, PLEASE go support this business, we want them to stay forever!

Absolutely delightful surprise tucked into downtown Montesano. The 3 course meal was fabulous- great portion sizes and bursting with flavor. While not a vegetarian, I ordered the mushroom bourgion,
With polenta and brussels-perfect combo and so filling!
Also browsed the awesome book collection and obliged with a couple unique titles!
My advice: just go. The food is fantastic and the owners and staff are incredibly kind.

The whole dinner was exquisite! The bread appetizer for our dip was not just any bread, it was baked to perfection as well as the baguette for my clams! Great experience!

Loved this quaint little cafe in Montesano! The food is delicious, and the bookstore has been stocked with a variety of books which should interest any reader, along with many cute, literary knick knacks. A great stopping point between the Olympic Peninsula and Seattle/the Eastside.
