Reliably good breakfasts and lunches -- good enough to bring visitors! The vibe is really nice and it's always clean. At a recent breakfast, we had a couple of omelettes, French toast, and a traditional breakfast. It was all very good. There's outdoor seating in addition to indoor. Service is pretty good, if just a bit inattentive at times. We had a very pleasant, leisurely breakfast and will definitely return.

It said they weren't open but to our delight they were! We're late breakfast eaters, closer to noon than morning hours. Sometimes finding a breakfast spot is hard so when we do, we rejoice! Harris Ave is the perfect spot!
We were greeted right away by a super friendly gal that seemed genuinely happy to see us, as she was with every customer! She was quick with our drinks, orders, refills and special requests. The food was hot and absolutely delicious! The BBQ sauce they use is spicy and packed with flavor, added to the chew of the ham and the sweetness of the tomatoes, the Chubby Checker hit the spot! Grab a side of bacon too, you won't be sorry!
I highly recommend Harris Ave Cafe and we'll surely return when we're in the area!

I was looking for the perfect pancake and found it at Harris Avenue Cafe! Cornmeal buttermilk pancakes were perfectly golden and fluffy, and the side of bacon was perfectly crispy. The steak and potatoes my partner had were seasoned well and also spot on. We came early on a Saturday and watched as the little cafe filled up, quite a popular spot! I can see why, as the food was excellent and my coffee cup was never empty. Will definitely be back!

We’ve been coming to the Harris St Café for years. We’ve brought friends and family to share this treasure of a breakfast/brunch/ lunch stop. The neighbourhood, the menu and art gallery vibe in this casual dining spot has become a destination for us. Unfortunately, the last two visits have not been up to the standard we’ve come to enjoy. We understand that coming out of the pandemic, finding/ training staff and the skyrocketing costs of ingredients has impacted the restaurant industry. The Matterhorn burger with yam fries and mushroom soup with Reuben sandwich were winners though smaller portions than previously which cut down on food waste. Sadly, the poached eggs and salmon on the Bennie were over cooked and the sauce was more of a solid than a liquid.

Great list of vegan breakfast sides compose a delish breakfast. Red potatoes, black beans, roasted asparagus, mixed veggies, toast. Lovely outdoor dog-friendly seating area. Delightful service.

Harris Ave Cafe holds 2nd place for our family among all the breakfast restaurants in Bellingham/Fairhaven. (First is Mount Bakery Fairhaven, but this cafe is a super-close second.) I had an amazing Polenta Rancheros and husband/son loved their Breakfast Chimichangas. I ordered a cornmeal buttermilk pancake, and even though it wasn't fork-pull-tender (haven't found that quality anywhere in Bham) it was fluffier than anywhere else around, and richly flavorful too - didn't even need syrup (though of course I did add some!). The coffee is a nice medium roast and it's very smooth. Our server did a great job of keeping our mugs topped off and provided the perfect level of service and check-ins to see how we were doing. Highly recommended!

The coffees & the food are excellent! Our ONE SUGGESTION would be that the young lady serving, wearing the “Kulshan” hoodie, wash the hoodie as it’s very dirty, and she try to get some of the dog/cat hair off her cloths. Not great attire for an eating establishment. Other than that our experience was just right.

Food was tasting great especially the steak and eggs BUT just right before finishing the meal, a hair was found underneath all the potato’s. Not only that there was about a 5” hair found under our toast.
When informing the staff, the comment of ,”Hopefully there’s no other hair underneath your other potato’s.”
Typically the cost of the meal is taken off the bill but only 10% was taken off and no apology was given.
All in all good food does not overcome the fact that there was hair and an apology was not given.
Would NOT recommend to anyone.

Wanted to like this place more than we did. Cute, comfortable setting, ample portions, solid selections.
However, we found service was disjointed and slow. Didn't appear short-staffed due to COVID, just felt neglected.
Over an hour for easy breakfast of four...empty beverages for duration of meal...elongated service gaps.
Hopefully we caught on bad day. Too many good factors.

It's a little unfair for a finicky vegetarian to leave a food review, but they still get 4 ⭐ on that. Tara works there, and she's a boss gal, and the workers are always 5 ⭐. This was originally Tony's Coffee House and the vibe abides.5 ⭐.
