Chris's Coffee & Custard

The energy in this place is enough to keep you coming back! Friendly, attentive and so happy to be of service, I can't rave enough about this beautiful place. The custard is unbelievably creamy and they have delicious creative coffee and custard offerings to satisfy every level of caffeine or sweet tooth cravings. Their savory pastries are excellent as well but the chicken salad is out of this world. There is patio space and even a private conference room you can rent out. Do yourself and favor and swing by for a bit. It will make your day!

Stopped in here for a chicken melt sandwich, cold brew, and Mommy's Boy (vanilla custard+PB cups in a waffle bowl) and visit with my friends. I brought my service dog in training, who decided to get barky. Under normal circumstances, I would have had to abandon food and social time and leave, because she was being disruptive. But the owner very generously and kindly let my friends and I sit in the back room so I could get my SDiT under control (which happened eventually) without disrupting others. I cannot express how much of a kindness this was- she can only learn public access skills by doing them, and this granted her the opportunity to learn some basics (and test some of her other skills). In addition, every single staff member was kind, attentive, and patient- I was frazzled and deeply appreciated their genuine niceness. And of course, the noms! the custard was delightful. I will definitely be treating myself to the occasional pint! The chicken salad melt was absolute comfort food- warm, gooey, with plenty of flavor. And the cold brew was smooth and delicious (kudos to the barista for giving me a splash of oat milk in mine). And lastly, the pup cup! My 6 month old SDiT loved hers (vanilla custard with a tiny Milkbone on top) and will need one every time I come back, I'm sure. The ambience is casual, clean, and comfortable- as any great coffee place should be- and I definitely will be returning. Hopefully with a better behaved dog (she's getting there, it just takes time and practice), but if weather permits there's always the semi-shaded patio area. I highly recommend this hidden gem!

Visiting Roanoke and stopped in for a pick me up and was greeted by one of the most enthusiastic groups of people working in a restaurant and the Mocha I ordered was hands down one of the best I have had and kept me happily awake on my journey! Looking forward to finding myself back in Roanoke as I will be stopping by again! You all did a great job!

I love Chris's! I decided to try out this place, close to home. First, let me say I was greeted by a kind and courteous gentleman and provided service and support by a young lady that was thorough and kind. I decided to stay and enjoy the wonderful atmosphere. Again, I was pleasantly surprised by the staff and the consideration they put towards my service. I over heard the management coaching and giving feedback to their staff in such a great and positive way. I want to thank all of you and the youn man, Garrett, I believe was his name who made my brief stop so wonderful. Keep up the great work.

This was the first I had heard of Chris's, and the fact that it is a coffee bar might have put me off, since I don't drink coffee. However, the fact that it employs young people on the autism spectrum, like those with whom I work, intrigued me. I visited today with one of those people and his mother and was very pleased with the experience. The service was prompt, the staff were not put out by the less than speedy order of the member of our party with autism, there was a good selection of food for a vegetarian like me, and the food was excellent.

We stopped at Chris's for breakfast on our way out of Roanoke heading home to CT. It was the perfect stop to end our week long road trip through the Blue Mountains. An employee held the door for us as we arrived and again when we left. He was helpful in telling us what the different food items in the case were. My spinach croissant was delicious and the cold brew chocolate chip muffin was one of the best muffins I've ever had (wish I got a second!). The service was quick and the space itself was beautiful. We only had time to get food to-go but would have loved to sit and eat in the beautiful dining room. Will definitely be back our next time in VA! Thanks for the great service.

Very friendly and welcoming! It was raining when we went, and an employee kindly held the door for us. The interactions are fun too, almost like welcoming friends in to their home. Love the custard, coffee, and the hot chocolate! Definitely recommend and will return as often as I can!
