The Coffee Shoppe

Very nice little joint. Coffee is great, service us awesome. They ran out of what i wanted but the Server was very helpful in suggesting an alternative!

The coffee shoppe is a whole a$$ experience! A brilliant gem in the heart of olde town Portsmouth! Allen is a draw all on his own however the coffee and food is almost as magical as him! He makes it a fun inviting environment while you enjoy all the delicious things they offer! Try an oat milk snickerdoodle latte! Or the carrot cake 🤤

This is honestly one of the best coffee shops I’ve been to. The atmosphere is comfy and all the staff is always so lovely and willing to work with any coffee order you may have. They have rotating local artists they feature inside, it’s one of my favorite features! Their breakfast burritos are my favorite meal to have in the mornings! The Coffee Shoppe is a must try!

A must stop if you're in Portsmouth. Delicious food and drinks. Friendly, entertaining staff. Were overwhelmed when half our convention converged on them for the week. They just took it in astride.
And the quality never suffered.

I’ll be honest, I love this place. It makes me really sad that the quality of food/drinks has gone down over the last few months. I order food from DoorDash and have it delivered and I’m more disappointed now than satisfied. The coffee drinks taste watered down, even the hot ones. I ordered a toffee nut latte this morning and it has a whisper of flavor. I also ordered the salad stuffer and asked for no lettuce or tomatoes and it came with both. Genuinely not big issues but this has been happening fairly often and it sucks because I love this place. Muffins have been hard, iced coffees are also watered down, even the spins don’t taste the same. :/ I don’t know what’s happening but hopefully it’ll turn around.

OLD SCHOOL ESPRESSO

You read that right! With places all over converting to a single origin, light roasted espresso, and pour-overs that taste like strawberry jam this place shines a light of uniqueness! "Everyone is so different they are all the same"

I ordered a small latte (priced very aggressively at $3 even) and a breakfast bagel and couldn't have been happier.

The espresso was prepared skilfully and tasted like some of the stuff I remember from the early 2000s: Bold, robust, chocolate, maybe a bit of leather, and sweet whole milk. I've been drinking so much light stuff (which admittedly I really enjoy) I forgot where espresso in the US started.

The bagel sandwich was awesome, and the sauce they used was legendary. I couldn't have asked for a better sandwich.

I will say, for a day of working at a cafe, the seating did leave a bit to be desired. There were a few spots to perch but I'm really tall, so the table/booth combo didn't have the best ergonomics. I will also say... This won't stop me from coming here again to do a day out of the office.

Between flavor, drink quality, vibe, pricing, and a Barista that ACTUALLY TALKS TO CUSTOMERS! Skip the 'Bucks and become a regular at this amazing espresso-themed watering hole.

I absolutely love this place.

Coffee was so, so good. I was in town for a convention and considering the numbers of us hitting this tiny coffee shop they moved us through fairly quickly. The baristas were wonderful and able to accommodate whatever changes I asked for.

Met the owner a few weeks ago at the Portsmouth Farmers Market and this was my first time coming into the shoppe - I wish I had come by sooner. SOLID latte, very friendly staff, and a very tasty and well-balanced Hot Pastrami sandwich. Love the vibe and the art on the wall is a great addition! Can’t wait to come back.

Walked to The Coffee Shoppe for coffee and breakfast every morning on my visit to Portsmouth. The coffee, food, people and atmosphere were great! I will definitely be back the next time I'm in town!

Great little coffee shop with a homey feel! Very friendly staff and amazing coffee! A must try!
