Such a charming little gem! The food, staff and service were all fantastic. We were so delighted with this find!

This is an awesome hole-in-wall place located on 151. The food was amazing, and the staff made us feel at home. This place is perfect for people on the 151 Tour that want a great home cooked meal!

Atmosphere was classy but casual. Food prepared was fresh and tasty. Wine selection was great! 'Salmon Creek' Chardonnay can't be better 😊

This place is awesome! Food is great, service is impeccable! Get a reservation for dinner...Going to Basic Necessities is always a basic necessity when visiting Nelson County VA...we always look forward to lunching or dining at this quaint place....great selection of wines as well..Enjoy!

Each course was well presented and quite tasty. The options are very limited, but what they do have is well rounded for most pallettes. Unfortunately, the seafood in my scampi was well done, rather rubberized, but the experience, setting and surrounding components of that dish made up for it. My wife's Coq au Vin chicken was spectacular, as was the wine selection.

Quaint, boutique-ish, restaurant serving lite lunch fare and French cuisine. We were staying in the Nellysford/Wintergreen area and heard of its fine food and cozy confines. Be sure to check out serving times for dinner and lunch ahead of time due to limited seating. Menu changes frequently which is nice and local wine is a staple.

I have gone to eat here for over 15 years. In the beginning it was magical, gourmet cuisine in the rural virginia countryside.
However it has gone badly downhill. Yesterday i waited for 45 minutes to get my food, i had a meeting to go to but food finally arrived on the table as i was leaving.
I was told the cooks forgot to show up for work that day.
To top it off, a couple who came to eat 20 min. after i was there got their food first as i waited nauseated with extreme hunger!
I will NEVER GO THERE AGAIN!!!!

What a gem of a cafe! Everyone there was friendly and was happy to help me select some unique wines! I wasn't able to enjoy a meal this time but from what I observed I am very sad I missed the experience. I will make time for it next time I visit!

Absolutely adored this place. Best grilled cheese I’ve ever had. Views were amazing. So relaxing. Wish I wasn’t on vacation so that I could go there on a regular basis.
