This is an enchanted and quaint place to eat. Located right off Rt. 151 in Nellysford. The decor reminds me of a patchwork quilt. Everything is mismatched and yet it comes together in a beautiful and cozy shape with whimsical vibes. Loved the Vintage decor and tablecloth.
The cheesecake is absolutely delicious- try a piece!
Outdoor seating under mature trees is available as well.

Absolutely delicious! The staff was so friendly and accommodating of our needs as a group of 7. The wine was delicious and our meals were warm, flavorful and filling.

Had a wonderful brunch experience here a few weeks ago. A true hidden gem it’s small so I’d make a reservation

This is a must stop every time my wife and I are near Nellysford. There is a wonderful selection of cheeses and baked goods and other gourmet items, but we are usually there for the wine selection. Many (if not most) of the wines are organic/biodynamic, with a heavy emphasis on southern French regions and styles. I have found so many delightful bottles of wine here over the last 5 or 6 years, and everything has been priced very reasonably. In addition to the wine and gourmet items, I have dined here a handful of times, and the light fare was delicious and refreshing. Very much a hidden gem - there is no ostentatious exterior, just a simple, unassuming little house, quite aptly named Basic Necessities.

Cute little spot! I had a great latte and bought some treats and a bagette for the trail. They even packed us out a mixed bag of cheese, bread, and toast when they found out we are thru hikers. I only wish they were open earlier to grab coffee in the morning before hitting the trail

I have been to this place numerous times and the food is ALWAYS delicious. I absolutely love the atmosphere. It's one of my favorite restaurants. I don't live in Virginia but every time I visit (a few times a year) I make a point to come here at least twice each trip. The last time I went was for Sunday brunch and there was a Harpist and she was amazing and played modern songs. It made the visit even better. You must try it!!

Amazing little cafe the valley of the Blue Ridge. A unique find for sure. Stopped in for an early lunch with my wife and son and were glad to have a table before they got a bit busier. There isn't much room but that adds so much of the charm for this quaint cafe and grocery.
The house salad was truly amazing and felt 100% more 'farm-to-table' than a lot of the fancier places claim to have. Smoked salmon was perfect as well. A perfect portion for lunch. All of the soups looked great and can't wait to try. The dressing is delicious and I wish I bought a bottle. Such a nice owner, highly recommend!

Really charming farmhouse style atmosphere, tons of wines, local cheeses, fresh desserts to choose from. Sunday fare was absolutely delicious.

Delightful French Themed wine and cheese shop with a cozy dining area attached. Super friendly staff and regular patrons make this spot a delightful taste of France nestled in the middle of Nellysford.

I came here because I was too early to check into the Monroe Institute. It was 10:30 am. I drove and looked for eatery.
I saw this restaurant which is 6.3 miles from the Monroe Institute. It is lovely small romantic European theme. I was disappointed that they don’t serve breakfast because I saw french toast on the reviews. I ended up with quiches.
