Chaps Ice Cream

We went to Chaps on recommendation from a friend, and we're quite glad we did. The service was quick, the ice-cream was top-notch, and the price was very reasonable. Chaps was recommended to us, and now I recommend it to you. Go in and have a great time.

I visited this place with my family when we were visiting downtown and it was such a charming little place for ice cream! The lady that served us was so kind and welcoming! The location itself feels like a jump back in time to a different era! So neat!

Kinda run down, dairy free option was meh, fudge was the only available topping, chocolate Oreo had literally no Oreos, and the black raspberry tastes like purple food coloring.

Ice cream is superb, but customer service is lacking. It was fine the first night with young men serving us. The next afternoon, the two ladies serving were curt and unpleasant. Questioning if our kid could eat two scoops and telling a mom of another family with three kids eating ice cream that booths were for patrons eating lunch. The pandemic has been brutal on parents with little kids. Gives us a break! If those were the owners, then they've gotten a bit too comfortable in how they treat their customers. They've got great ice cream, but their treatment of that family in an ice cream parlor of all places was a big turnoff.

The vegan ice cream would have been better but it wasn't really frozen. My friends "regular ice cream" was pretty cold. Idk mine was luke warm. But then I dropped the whole ice cream and I wasn't too upset. They had 3 flavors of vegan ice cream and waffle cones. The inside esthetic was cute and the staff were nice.

I am quite biased as my first job was at Chaps but that doesn't change the experience. Deep diner vibe with fun ice cream choices that stay consistently good. Thick shakes, house made waffle cones, and when the grill is on for food it's on. My personal favorite is the egg cream, pistachio ice cream, or coffee shake. But the golden nugget is great. Oh, and the vegan ice cream options, and the BLT or the... The list goes on and on. They have outdoor seating which gives the opportunity to people watch, listen to the sounds of the fountain, and decide on where to go next. It is right next door to Sal's where you can get great Italian food from another family owned local business and two doors down from The Paramount. Are there other ice cream places in town, sure. But do they have Granny?

I ordered a small chocolate malt and received a tasteless very thin consistency barely cold cup of milk with no malt and very little ice cream. After 2 sips I tossed it in the trash $8.60 later!

Delicious burger and yummy handmade ice cream! Friendly service. Inside is a total dive but the weather was amazing so we sat outside. My coffee tasted horrible, I was expecting diner coffee but it tasted burnt. I would eat there again, just not order coffee.
