Workhorse Cafe was recommended by the local Ski Shop so we gave it a try. Pulling up to the cafe with their smoker going out front we knew we hadn't been led astray. The Piggy Bowl (homemade Mac with Pulled Pork and Bacon) was amazing. The plain mac n cheese was fantastic as well. Now...The pork belly Banh Mi was insanely good. The Workhorse sandwich...freaking amazing Beef Brisket with crispy onions and candied bacon. Fries and kids chicken tenders were also super good. Make your own, coffee , and drink cooler. We will definitely be back to try breakfast. Besides hot stuff and BBQ they have cold sandwiches and burgers, including veggie burgers. Also a nice selection of salads. No indoor seating. So hang out and eat in at stand up tables or call ahead and take home. Super friendly chef/owner/cashier! For summer time there is a covered porch with seating.

We just stumbled on this incredible cafe. They not only serve fantastic food, they try very hard to be sustainable. The sandwiches are so big, one of them can feed two adults. Fresh potatoes from a farm in Maine , selected to provide perfect fries. Other local food.
No Styrofoam here.
A bathroom for customer use.
Outside sitting with dogs OK!!
Quick to fill order. So no reason not to stop.
Has to be best of any place on Rt 100. Note that their lowest rating is a 4.
If you are traveling on Rt 100, there is no better place to stop. Support this very local and sustainable cafe!!!

Prompt and friendly service. Went in the other day, asked how long it’d take to throw together a piggy bowl. They said ‘few minutes.’ I was in, ordered, & out w/ my food in hand in probably 10-15 mins total. Asked whether the cashier liked bbq or s&v chips better, they said s&v... Those chips did not disappoint, & the Piggy bowl was filling! Separate day I got a sausage/egg/cheese on the Portuguese roll. Also did not disappoint. Businesses have not historically stayed in this new location, I hope workhouse does!

One of the best eating experiences in a long time. Really delicious smoked beef sandwich. Definitely going back soon. The portion is good too. Filling and not too greasy, just delicious and flavorful.

The *best* sandwiches in the area (sorry, Bromley Market). Don't skip the namesake Workhorse sandwich, but just make sure you are planning to get a lot of cardio afterward : ) Great homemade potato chips too.

Stopped in October of 2021. Had the brisket mac and a side of onion rings. Good lunch, the kitchen was a bit backed up but it didn't bother us to wait a few.

Where do I even start? I have been here three times, but only for the sake of giving them the benefit of the doubt. The food is okay, but really it's a pretty good central location for me during the day, and in VT that's something. This most recent time, they took 15 minutes to get an order out that I placed 40 minutes prior. (specifically for pick up in a rush) Not only were they crazy slow, but they also (for the third consecutive time) got my order wrong.
Whatever, honestly I've been in the restaurant business myself, I get it.
However, they were not even remotely busy enough ANY of the times I have been to mess it up this badly. THREE TIMES? To top it off the workers have only been super unprofessional, and I have been overcharged 2 times out of 3. I'm a big believer in tipping, but for the lack of professionalism....? (With there not being a tip on there, it was 4 dollars over the amount it was supposed to be.) Why ask for/have the option to add anymore gratuity if you're already including it?? You own a business, you have food awards, BE BETTER.

Amazing breakfast. Loved the breakfast burrito bowl. The hash browns were perfectly crunchy. This cafe is definitely on our favorite list.

Great hidden gem. Owner / head chef is one of the best in the area. Frozen coffee ice cubes are awesome.

I eat here every week. The quality and creativity of the food is consistently outstanding. You can literally walk in, close your eyes, and point blindly at anything on the menu and you will get something amazing every single time.
