I recently found myself on the road in Rutland needing a coffee refill so I went to this lovely café.
The people were friendly, the vibe was COMFORTABLE and the coffee and baked goods were both excellent. (this is like the polar opposite of a "chain")
The kind of place I wish I had on my street....

The best earl Grey latte! Inclusive happy place

Great espresso selection among other coffees, nice small selection of fresh baked goods and pastries every morning I would recommend it

Delicious coffee and breakfast sandwiches . We had the biscuit sandwich and it was so good. The biscuit was flaky and buttery .
It’s only takeout right now but definitely worth the trip

I’ve enjoyed Speakeasy over the past few years (I lived in Rutland from 2017 to mid 2021). My go-to order is an egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on a biscuit and a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie (seriously, it’s one of the best cookies I’ve ever had—and I am picky about where cookies should fall on the gooey to crispy spectrum. Speakeasy cookies are perfectly balanced). I also enjoy their flat white and James Joyce latte. I tend to not be very adventurous with my coffee orders, but my wife enjoys all sorts of seasonal lattes from Speakeasy (I believe some of her favorites include rosemary).
I have grown to really love this place, not just because of their yummy food and coffee, but also because of how they handled the pandemic. They took safety seriously and continued to foster a sense of community in spite of the general disconnectedness of Covid times. My family started a weekly tradition of getting our favorite things from Speakeasy on the weekend during the height of the pandemic because of how careful they were being and we’ve kept this tradition up even as things have opened up and gotten more normal.

Every item ordered was not prepared correctly. I ordered a Chai with a shot, breakfast biscuit with cheddar cheese and over easy egg. The shot was missing in the Chai latte, and biscuit came without cheese and with hard egg. The biscuit itself was delicious, I just wish I actually got what I ordered.

Coffee is fantastic, soups are always AMAZING and service always friendly and quick. My dad and I come here every Saturday and always have a great experience.
If you aren’t from the area and looking for a coffee shop, please go local and give this place a try!

Didn't plan on going here but was only place open and it really should have been our first choice. We had great service, two great coffees, and very delicious breakfast sandwiches. FYI, the dining area is on the smallish side and can be tight especially if you bring the whole family, like we did, but we managed and had some great coffee and food.

I was constantly asked upon entry if my dog was a service animal and after responding promptly the answer yes they proceeded to ask his service provided and so again I answered immediately. Then was berated again immediately after by another employee. So I went to Starbucks where they have yet to ask about his credentials. Btw it's almost 90° here atm. Very disappointing.

This bagel shop may not be that large, but they will stop at nothing to get top quality food, and hire great staff. With bagels imported straight from Montreal, and baked goods from local bakers, to coffees, lattes, espressos, and tea. You couldn't find a better cafe in Rutland
