Been coming here for years, love this place.
Recently, I had a friendly experience when ordering, but immediately after, changed to a rude unpleasant experience. Not sure what changed between ordering and picking up our drinks. Very unprofessional.
I feel very reluctant to go back in.

Lovely quint cafe in downtown Lyndonville Vermont. Awesome food and great gift ideas. We go every year to the polar express train and while we wait we take a nice e look around at all they have to offer.

Apple pie smoothie is killer! This place is so cute, and the staff is very friendly.

Be warned if you are a vegetarian and plan to eat here. I ordered a veggie burger and was served beef. That wouldn't have been terrible except that when they remade the burger they REUSED A BUN WITH BEEF CRUMBS on it. I ate half of the burger before finding a small piece of beef on my plate. The defense of the person who came to speak with me was that "the beef patty didn't break." That is no consolation to me when after a lifetime as a vegetarian I've just consumed a bun covered in the juice of a hamburger. Now I'm left hungry and angry. I wish I could rate zero stars.

Love The Freighthouse! Great organic supplies and grocery items from local farms, ice cream year round, smoothies, delicious baked goods, fancy coffees made to order, , breakfast & lunch menu that's locally sourced, awesome soups, a gift shop upstairs (as well as a miniature scale village with working train!), plus a dining area and friendly service. Also a source for local info (Chamber of Commerce flyers). A must-stop if you are in the area.

Went here with the husband to enjoy a steak tip dinner. It was our first time there. We were one of just a couple of people there. It was early on a Friday and not at all busy. We both asked for medium rare, but instead got well-done to the point of charred. Complained numerous times about the food, expecting some helpful response to re-cook the food or replace an item. All we got were, "oh that's too bad" as a response with no follow-up offer to fix it. It was the oddest thing ever. I ate maybe 3 bites of my food before I couldn't manage anymore. The hubby ate maybe a few more bites than that, but we neither ate the majority of or meal nor took the rest with us. We asked to speak to the manager, and we got the same response when we explained the problems with the meal. Oh that's too bad. We paid and left. The service was weird and offensive. The food was inedible. They took as much of our money as they'll ever get. I was just floored. Haven't missed a chance to tell anyone and everyone how bad our experience was. We don't generally have any issues with eateries, have rarely ever needed to be comp'd or offered alternatives, and are more than happy to praise an establishment for a job decently to well done. Always wondered what the deal was here, but am not willing to pay to find out.

This place is wonderfully unique. They have tasty everything to go or to sit down and enjoy. The family owned commitment to providing the best products and service to its customers is clear the second you step foot in.
Don't wait go today!!!!

Flavorless and very expensive is the only way to characterize this place. Went for breakfast today -- two small eggs, a tiny portion of home fries, and a single slice of toast with a cup of coffee was over $9 per person. The "seasoned" homefries were undercooked and hard, and the only seasoning I could detect was a very light sprinkling of dry parsley over otherwise plain, bland potatoes. The scrambled eggs were equally dry and flavorless. There was no jam or jelly for the single small slice of toast. The Freighthouse touts itself as serving local and organic food. "Local and organic" doesn't justify tiny portions, indifferent cooking, and high prices. There are far better places to dine.

As a newcomer to this area, finding this place was absolutely delightful! As I travel around the USA, I love finding organic choices for my food and this place delivered! As long as I will be in this area, I will be a customer. Thank you for being here for me to discover!

Love going here. They have ice cream for kids in the summer, a starbucks inside, and a lot of local vermont made stuff. As well as organic and non gmo foods. Plenty of places to sit and relax outside. And the staff are all really nice people.
