Wandering the back roads of Vermont can leave you hungry with very few options. Popping out into Lyndonville one afternoon, I made a quick stop at the Freighthouse Cafe. Immediately, I knew I'd picked a good place. The cafe and deli met me with a fresh-made vibe that had my mouth watering over the chalkboard menu options. The food took a while...a lot longer than expected, actually, but the sandwiches were worth the wait. We had the turkey cranberry sandwich and a honey mustard chicken wrap. They were both filling, tasty, and seemed to be good quality. The fresh hand-cut fries that I was looking forward to, were disappointing, though. Like our journey that landed us at the Freighthouse, the fries were all over the map -- s little burnt, a little limp, a little soggy, and far too little crispy. Nonetheless, after buying a house near Lyndonville, I'm sure I'll have the opportunity to give the fries another try!

They’ve got ice cream, coffee, and treats! Good place to go and chill, work a bit, and get Starbucks coffee.

We stopped by today and had the Beet Salad and Chicken Caesar Salad. Both were outstanding. The maple vinegrette dressing was unique and tasty. My only suggestion would to offer larger sized salads as an option. We will definitely stop back again for lunch the next time we are in area. Thanks!

As soon as I turn off I-91 into Lyndonville I get jazzed for my Freighthouse stop.
Everytime no matter the reason (hungry, thirsty, need coffee or snacks and groceries for later...) Good organic food on the shelves, tasty healthy take menu, fresh strong coffee and great staff and store vibes!!
You are a gem at the end of my long drive :)

I had a great caprese sandwich but my friend got the peanut wrap, which was very wet and soggy. We each got a no-bake mint brownie to go. I wish I was exaggerating, but that was probably one of the worst things I’ve ever eaten (which was so terrible I actually just spit it out).

This is really the only place I will get coffee in town. I know that everyone knows what Starbucks’ coffee is like, but somehow this is better. Maybe it’s the people (the manager actually cares) or it’s the full auto espresso machine. I don’t know. It just is. The baked goods are of top quality. The place is super roomy; no bumping elbows. They bus the tables. Bathrooms are alway way clean. And half the place is a health food store. They also sell ice cream in summer, if that is your thing. It’s comfortable, quite, and in a historic railroad station. In this tiny town, it’s a gem.

Rating based on service not the product - Not as good as before sadly, (the ice cream part) the few times Ive been there for ice cream, I've had to go looking all over for someone to help for ice cream and when you have a few young kids running around it's a pain. Hopefully they'll get it together more a but more because it is a nice place to go.

Stopped on the way back from a Jay Peak weekend. Small place with order at the counter service and seat yourself. Quite quaint.

Menu is clearly labeled with organic ingredients and local products (and which aren't).

Friends ordered a couple breakfast sandwiches, one ordered another to go because he loved it. I had the soup special of seafood chowder (pleasantly thin base with large chunks of haddock, lobster and scallops) and the pesto chicken panini (bread was very fresh and tasted amazing!).

The wait staff brought us all water, without asking. It was a quiet morning but was asked by multiple individuals if everything was to our liking and if we needed anything else.

Based on our experience, we will stop through again. Skip the McDonald's off the exit, good food is only a mile away.

Got a couple of sandwiches. Didn't come with fries, pickle, chips or a drink. I think a $11 sandwich should come with at least something on the side.
Used a debit card to pay and the receipt had the usual tip calculator. I tipped although I'm not sure what for, we ate outside with no waitress. Probably my own fault.
While waiting for sandwiches I noticed a bottle of ketchup was over $5 in there.
Got a donut to go. It was stale.
Sandwiches were good.
