I've come here a few times. Unfortunately, my experiences have not impressed me & have gotten worse each experience. This is the closest restaurant to my house, so I've continued because of it's convenience. I will not be going again. The first time I went, I brought my parents out. We all enjoyed the food. The portions were very small, but we didn't mind much because the food was good (we all ordered pasta selections). The beer/wine selection is good & I enjoyed the atmosphere, so I decided to try it again a few months later.
My next experience was OK. I am a vegetarian & I knew before going that the options were limited--but I was excited to try the veggie burger. The veggie burger was very bland (especially compared to so many amazing places in Burlington & what we make homemade). It tasted like something I could buy frozen. My boyfriend got a salmon selection. The salmon was a little dry, but he said it was overall okay, but was a little pricey for the quality and quantity.
We tried going again recently, this time I ordered a salad, which tasted great (it's kind of hard to mess up a salad...), but it was very small for a $12 salad. My boyfriend's order was messed up & he did not get the appetizer he ordered. Instead, he got one that was $4 more expensive that he did not want to eat. We were very kind when the manager asked how our meal was, we explained he had gotten the wrong selection. The waitress also asked about it & we told them not to worry about swapping it out, it was okay, and he'll try to eat it. We figured that since the manager knew of the mistake, they would at the very least charge us for the item my boyfriend actually ordered. When we got the bill, we were very surprised they not only charged us for their mess up, but also the more expensive item. We decided not to make a fuss about it, and just vowed to never return.
I would not suggest going here if you're a vegetarian, or if you are looking for quantity/quality for your buck. It'll now be worth my drive to Burlington for higher quality food.

Had dinner here on a Saturday night... the place is very large and although the live music was at one end it was still too loud to have a conversation at the other end (even though it looks like two separate buildings that are connected by a hallway). There must be more bathrooms but I only found one and there was always a lineup. Food was delivered timely, and from a good looking menu. Portions were huge and the price reflected that. I would have preferred a quieter place with smaller portions and slightly better prices, but overall it tasted good.

The Cafe was a truly wonderful experience. The Cafe was a beautifully restored farmhouse and very inviting. The menu was varied from burgers to salads to mouthwatering entrees. We had the maple ribs and Pot Roast. Both were fantastic. This quaint New England restaurant is a must stop in this corner of Vermont.

The chef tries too hard. Whether it's adding to many of the same seasonal item to all entrees or pickling carrots to pair with chicken wings. The establishment tries to hard. Too bad this is the only place of note between Essex and Stowe.

Good food. We arrived in the off period between lunch and dinner (3-5), so only part of the menu could be ordered fron, but what we had was very good. We look forward to going back and trying some of the entrees!

We ordered two sandwiches, $14 and $15 each. Definitely not commensurate with the price. Nine bucks all day long everywhere else on the planet. Overpriced is the main reason I’m giving two stars. Not a huge fan of the really loud band jamming during dinner either. Conversation was difficult.
