I cannot rave about this place enough!! Not only is the food NEXT LEVEL but the people and the atmosphere are phenomenal. One of the owners greeted us so kindly when we entered and was generous and welcoming. Don’t forget to grab yourself a Sesame Crème on the way out! Trust me, you won’t regret it!! Everything is unique and the employees are great people. Make sure to make time to stop at The Cafe Hot!

I really like Cafe HOT. It has very unique vegetarian options -- not all of which I love, but that just speaks to the diversity. My one complaint about food is that the single time I tried the coffee it was burnt, but it could have been an off day.
I have a few more quibbles; as you read these keep in mind I have some experience working with people with disabilities, if something seems like a worthlessly small complaint (I don't mean to be overly critical). The menu is hard to parse. Its layout is fine, but it's a black on tan readerboard style sign, with small text, misspelled words, and backwards letters. It'll make anyone with less than stellar eyesight squint, but for a dyslexic, or someone whose developmental delay keeps them from reading as easily as other people, it's a nightmare. As far as I recall there isn't a plain text menu posted or available in the store -- if there is it isn't very prominent. That would be a useful inclusion.
The bathroom features embossed red labels for various features, including where to dispose of feminine hygiene products. This would be mostly fine if the lighting fixture in the bathroom wasn't red, making the text on the labels hard to read. Again, a relatively small molehill in the grand scheme of things.
Cafe HOT is a progressive restaurant in a progressive city, and I'd love to see them go just a little further and make it just a little easier for the large disabled community in Burlington and the rest of Vermont come to visit.

Again, I really like my meals at Cafe HOT -- I recommend any of their biscuit sandwiches with a beet lemonade, and perhaps a bonut for dessert.

One of Burlington's best restaurants hands down. Vegetarians, don't be fooled by the looks of the sandwiches, everything is made from eggs and plants! I had no idea you could chicken fry an egg and now my life is forever improved

Cafe HOT is amazing and delicious! We had a chance to try everything on the menu and it was truly all unique, flavorful and so, so tasty. The egg sandwich with the crispy cheese and soft homemade milkbun was a real standout as was the espresso bonut. The owners are wonderful and the whole place has a great vibe. This is a must stop place for breakfast if you’re in Burlington!

Fantastic breakfast sandwiches that both look and taste great. The house made hot sauce is a little smokey and adds a great flavor. Really unique biscuit/donut hybrids. The espresso one was quite good. Looking forward to coming back!

Cafe Hot is jaw-droppingly delicious!!! It is a must visit. I have had almost everything on their menu (DIY breakfast sandwiches, bing, secret biscuit sandwich, the "chicken," breakfast sammy, bonuts, mochi, etc.) and it is all DELICIOUS. The biscuits have the perfect combination of flaky and soft, the sauces are flavorful and as spicy as you want, and the eggs are fluffy but also customizable if you prefer a different style. The sweets will also blow your mind. The food is filling, which I love as a big eater, and the Raven is a great option if you want to go lighter.

I am a teacher in a Vermont public school and my colleagues and I have a Friday tradition of getting Cafe Hot! - it is the BEST way to end the week! The many people who I have suggested check this place out have loved it, as have visitors. Recently, some foodie friends from the SF Bay Area who are living in Philadelphia said it is the best food they have had on the East Coast.

Beyond the food, the owners, Travis and Alan are super good guys and the place exudes good vibes. They have done a lot of the work on the place themselves and are into sustainability (on track for a green restaurant certification, veggie-based meat, repurposed mirrors, etc. :)).

Cafe Hot is a gem and we are so lucky to have it in Burlington!!

It’s been 4 days since I had breakfast from here, and it’s still all I can think about. I’m literally haunted by how good the food was. The chicken fried egg thing is mind blowing.

So many meatless options. All of the staff was very friendly.

Where do I start with this place? The food here has blown me away. Such unique tastes and flavors in every option I've had. Love their sammies (Basterd Bing + Brakefast Sandwich) donuts (any flavor). Great coffee. Super nice staff.

Highly, highly recommend!

Good food, poor service, way overpriced.
Ordered 4 bonuts and two egg sandwiches later in the day when there was no line and no other orders.... Waited 45 minutes, and received a smushed sandwich and 2 of the 4 bonuts we ordered. Super disappointed as I was really excited to try this place after the stellar reviews and recommendations of friends. Unfortunately overpaying for a haphazardly assembled, 45-minute wait egg sandwich and $8 of missing bonuts is not something I'm particularly excited to experience again in the near future.
Hopefully this is an isolated incident, but at the prices they're charging, I have a tough time not feeling a bit ripped off...
Still great flavors though, it's not like the food was bad! And I'm always in support of places doing as much in-house as possible, even if it commands a higher price as a result. So I'd still recommend giving these guys a shot, but maybe dine-in instead.
