The quality of the beverages and food are generally good. But there are problems. I don't know how long this has been going on, but the last couple of times, after ordering a 24 oz. espresso-based drink, I've been asked (i.e. upsold) whether I want an additional shot added. It's suggested in a subtle way so as to hit you up with an extra charge, that you might say yes not knowing whether it's complimentary. The thing is, when I asked if it was complimentary or an upsell, I was given a rude scowl by the blonde woman taking my order. Suffice to say, I didn't take the bait. So beware of that tactic. I dislike the overall layout of the shop. Too crowded, you really want to get your order and get out (the old location across the street a couple of decades ago was much, much better). They play the same classical music every day (mix in some classic jazz for a change). As for the lack of wi-fi, I get it: you don't want customers hogging tables all day primarily for free signal. If not having it keeps them away, so be it.

One of my all time favorite spots. For years I have been going here whenever I am in Salt Lake. It is good for catching up with friends, studying, playing games, drawing, good coffee, herbal teas, etc.

A gem in salt lake. Fresh baked pastries every day. Best coffee in salt lake, and pleasant, attentive, wonderful staff. You can not get better.

I'm rating the Coffee Garden based on my experiences from '14-'19 here. But I have to say that I feel like now the Coffee Garden is experiencing some kind of newer revolution. I feel like the pandemic may have burned this 'closing at 8 and not 11' into their DNA. Maybe it's for safety concerns. I'm confused as to why they decided to be a 'non-wifi' coffee shop all of a sudden. Most coffee shops survive on their 'studiers' and laptop entrepreneurs. It makes it easier also for introverts to not feel overwhelmed if they can take an internet connected laptop with them to a coffee shop. The Coffee Garden is where I wrote my best poetry with research done using their wifi for 5 years which I thank them for. But not sure about taking it away. I understand wanting to be more 'organic' but to me it seems like it's more of an extreme reaction to something. I understand there's probably more money to be made the sooner people leave seats but 'rarely' anybody sat in a coffee shop on their own before laptops and wifi were invented. Maybe opening a second location in the 15th area would help reduce overwhelming traffic.

It feels really difficult to write this review as I really love this place and have been visiting this place for many years..
Today when I ordered white chocolate mocha I have mentioned them to make it extra hot, but when it was given it was little less hot and I have requested them to remake it for extra hot.. The barista person that was in charge today at this time was really rude about it and this was really harsh encounter.. It would be great if these kind of rude responses will be avoided in future as this is impacting on the store directly because of one person that is causing this chaos.
Just wanted to say that I really love the coffee here..

Locals enjoy the coffee from this place and although I don't drink coffee I agree with them. I personally love to visit this place for their delicious quiche, eclair and macaroons!!

I work next-door at Cahoots, so I try to get breakfast here whenever I can. The food and drinks are amazing and they always have relaxing music playing.

My favorite coffee place of all the time. So far in Utah. I love the peppermint mocha and their pastries. Great service too. Great for coffee date, doing homework or assignment.

The atmosphere of this place is very unique and cool. They do not have wifi, which I could see being a major problem for students. The drink was ok, I was not impressed with the overall quality, but would be willing to try again. I do appreciate that they had gluten free vegan treats also as well as a large syrup choice.

Diverse range of coffee and pastry options. Delicious and super moist GF banana muffin if you’re into that. I got a cappuccino with coconut milk when Visitng SLC and went back the next day because I liked the quality. Long lines which is great for business but be mindful if you’re in a rush, give yourself 10-15 mins.
