Our family visited Escalante with a 9 and 11 year old and were fortunate to have a private guided tour of a slot canyon. Jim was great with our group —providing information about geology, plant and wild life along the way. It was a memorable adventure for us and I highly recommend this experience to anyone who makes their way to this gem of a town!

Great little gear store that has A LOT inside! We had to replace a couple key items that failed during our awesome trip to UT. They showed us the options and sold it at a fair price. We are so glad we found this store!

Great little gear shop and more! The two ladies running the shop on a Sunday morning were very friendly and full of local knowledge. We picked up a couple of forgotten items (20 % off sale going on) while there. They have a good selection of camping and hiking gear. The coffee looked good, but we had already had enough for the day. Stop in and say hello while in Escalante!!!

We went thru the slot canyon with Jim. Very very happy and Jim is very good in helping us going in and out the canyon.

He is also very knowledgeable about the area and pointed us to several interesting spots and trails.

Jim runs a good and honest business.

Stopped in this morning to replace a couple tent stakes that my puppy ran off with - the gentleman that helped me was so nice and helpful. Store has an excellent selection of camping equipment and prices are better than elsewhere in town. I also got great advice on the best places to hike around Grand Staircase with my dogs. Excellent service, will definitely shop there again.

The only place serving gourmet coffee for miles and miles.
The coffee was being made by one man. He was the only one there and he had a pretty long line.
He was patient and helpful, he opened a map to show me how to find what i was looking for then went back to his line of customers treating each with kindness and patience even though he was extremely busy.
The store also had cool " escalante " symbols on good quality clothing and hats.
This was a very cool unique little place.

This is like a mini REI with all the essentials! We however stopped for a cup of coffee (which was excellent). We were at the turning around point of our trip and were talking about which way to head back west. I will not forget the words of the very nice lady behind the counter. She said "it doesn't matter (the time constraints), you guys HAVE to take HWY 12 because it is one of the best motorcycling roads in the country". So we did. THANK YOU!!

Wow! We were so impressed with Jim and his shop. My boyfriend, his uncle, and I went on a slot canyon tour yesterday. When we arrived, Jim set us up with packs, made delicious coffee for us, and talked to us a bit about where the would be going. Jim is incredibly professional and knowledgeable about the canyons and surrounding landscape including flora and fauna. He had some great stories and a ton of information to share throughout the trip. Once in the canyon, that's where he really shined. Its difficult to describe but in a nutshell the only reason why I didnt ask for a helicopter rescue is that I was confident that Jim would get us out with some great stories. He is incredibly confident, knowledgeable.and safety oriented. We all got through with smiles on our faces and some great stories to tell! He is a true pro and if I'm ever in the area again I would go with no one else. As a side note, their shop is really well appointed with lots of really unique local art and crafts in addition to outdoor gear. I was impressed with the shop before we toured the canyon but after our tour it was relegated to a bit of a side note. Jim, thanks so much for the adventure!
