I used to love the old restaurant that was here. The new owners need to work on the service . When you walk in no one greets you. You have no clue if you should sit or wait to be seated. We waited 40 minutes for our food. I do believe we came in during a serious rush. The food is awesome. Just need to work on communicating..we will try it again. Good luck new owners...

Love the old town atmosphere. Good place to meet up with old buddies, talk about the good ole days and eat good food.

Definitely a weekly go-to spot! Get there before they open to cut out the wait.

I just walked out of this place and I’m sitting in my truck writing this. First off the wait staff is incredible. They’ve always been very nice and helpful. I ordered a “Meat me” omelet and asked if I could get just the omelet without any of the other things that came with it. I was told “sure”. I also ordered a side of bacon. I was SHOCKED when I went to pay and it was $18! I was charged full price even though I didn’t get half the items. I’ve been coming here for a while now and this will be my last time. Greedy people don’t care about customers and I’m sure nothing will change

G is an amazing server that has a smile that will brighten your day. Mary and the rest all pitch in to make your dining experience excellent. Couple the friendly service with the over-the-top amazing food and you have a place you will crave! We had the Buffalo Blue Balls, Monte Cristo, Chicken fried steak, and salads. Every bite was delectable.

We have eaten here numerous times and have never been disappointed. We've had breakfast and lunch. The breakfasts are outstanding. All cooked to order. Their chicken-fried steaks are absolutely the best, which is hard to do around here for two reasons: first, it is one of the 4 food groups in Texas (gravy is a beverage in Texas and across the South), and second, a lot of restaurants do chicken-fried steaks, so competition is fierce. Highly recommend you stop by for a meal, but come hungry. If you leave hungry,it's your own fault!

LOVE IT! This cafe is convenient, charming, delicious food and great, friendly service.
I had the Monte Cristo WITH the yummy raspberry/cayenne jam. While it is not friend like the traditional Monte Christo, ALL the flavor was there and I highly recommend it.
My side of fresh fruit was slightly softer than I like but was still refreshing.
Great coffee and the blackberry cobbler looked amazing.... It was a huge portion! (I was full from the sandwich otherwise I would have tasted my friend's cobbler!)
Parking can be an issue, so look behind the square for parking spaces.
I am new to the area but the Whistle Hill's Downtown Cafe is high on my list for brunch & lunch! (They close at 2 pm.)

Service was slow… it took 55 minutes for three people to get food. The waitress who took our order didn’t know their menu. I wanted their chicken fried chicken and pancakes. That’s all the menu stated. When I ordered it, the waitress proceeded to tell me that it’s chicken fried steak “but they’ll make an exception for me”. When we finally got our food, it wasn’t worth the price or wait. Pancakes were dry and the chicken was tough. $56 and a 55 minutes wait later… I will most definitely never recommend this place or step foot in this establishment again.

A small but great spot for breakfast right off the downtown square!
