My coffee was everything and I would recommend. Next time I’m in Temple this will be my first stop.

I like a good dairy free option, and they offer oat milk here. Coffee is good, but I normally get a London Fog. Their empanadas are a must, though. The most noteworthy aspect of First Street is their outdoor space. It is mostly covered with a playground and event space. When it is cold, they have you covered with outdoor heaters. I visit here regularly with friends and our kids because it is the only coffee spot with a playground. It's a great addition to downtown Temple.

If you would like a great latte, This is definitely the place!

Edited after today's visit: I tried again with hopes that it had improved. The expresso tastes like burnt instant coffee - my parents drank instant coffee and I would pull pranks on unsuspecting friends (who enjoyed pranks) by having them drink the stuff no one ever said "oh that tasted great!" The attitude of the batista left a lot to be desired as well. I am giving up.

Previous review: Let me start of by saying we have been here before and it was good enough to come again but this time it was not the best experience. I will try one more time but if it is always up and down I will not waste more time on them.

The batista was nice but I don't think they are fully trained. So here is the breakdown of our experience..
My cortado had a heavy froth instead of just steamed milk and the temp of it was way too high. There is no simple syrup! Considering that they make their own syrup this seems very strange.

My friends Americano "tasted like burnt water" and was in a very tiny cup. The price of this Americano is double what we would pay at other shops when the size is factored in.

The latte took 30 minutes to be cool enough to even try. Yes... coffee should be hot but not scalding.

We are actually tossing these and getting something more enjoyable today.

The coffee is very good. The playground is also well maintained and a fun outlet for your kids, making it a family friendly place.

The service is always great in the mornings on the weekends, they really pay attention and go an extra step!

Decor/atmosphere: 4 stars
Coffee roast quality: 4 stars
Barista skill: 2 stars
From my three separate visits here's the reasoning for 2 stars:
Foam poor quality, burnt shots, incorrect ratios of foam to milk for latte drinks, temperature 15 degrees above industry norm.
They have a great concept but need more training of their Baristas.
No comparison to Pinewood or Dichotomy in Waco or numerous locations in Austin or even 309 in Georgetown.

Awesome coffee fun place! New shop in the newly renovated downtown Temple.

Coffee was good, but the cups they put iced coffee in are horrible. It's like a slurpee lid. It leaked all over me and I had coffee on my shirt all day at work. Where the salads and sandwiches are supposed to be it was empty and dirty. I work close by and would loved to grab a quick salad from there for lunch sometime but not sure I will now. Service was great and very quick.

Unlike the large chain coffee houses where you feel more like a number than a human, I had a great experience at this family owned spot. Great coffee and excellent service.
I can't recommend it enough!

I always enjoy an Iced Mocha from the barista Travis! The service is always timely and friendly. The scones are wood-fire roasted and delicious, especially the blueberry! Not to mention, the rewards program is well, rewarding!
