Great coffee and vibe. Passing through town on a long trip and this one popped up as a recommendation. Their specials aren’t overly sweet and the espresso has a very unique profile which is always a plus.

I had a terrific experience. The space is clean. Well maintained and clearly cared for. The baristas were helpful and NOT snooty about answering questions I had about their coffee. They were well-informed with their offerings. It was quiet enough to enjoy, but not so quiet we couldn’t have a private conversation. The ONLY bad thing is the parking. I found some, but it was crowded. NOT their fault. Just a warning.

Great coffee and wonderful intentionality by the roaster at this shop. I’ve grown to be quite particular with my coffee preferences and this spot hit all the right notes. Bought a couple bags of coffee beans to take home!

The coffee was not good. I got a cold brew and my buddy got "The Spring." The cold brew tasted like smokey water and was very transparent. Cold brew should be brewed very strongly and using dark beans. They do not brew strong enough (as evidenced by the transparency of the drink itself), and the barista informed me that they do not use dark beans. The Spring is a mixture of ginger beer and cold brew. Ginger beer is far too flavorful to be paired with their weak cold brew.

The Monomyth in Lubbock Texas:

Nowadays I find myself in the Yee-Haw part of the state. That means that the coffee can double as paint thinner, and the coffee shops are designed off of prisons. Recently however, I had the chance to see Don Giovanni in Lubbock Texas, where the person who played Don Octavio stole the show. He then took me to The Monomyth.

Not only was the shop not a prison, but the coffee didn't come with its own chemical code. While that is all well and good, it invites something different to fill the gap, hipsters, and hipsters they were. Styled beards, flannel shirts, flared mustaches, light leather boots, jeans, and man buns. I felt as if I was behind enemy lines and it was difficult for me to get my bearings. I'm not fluent in hipster, but I can hold a conversion, so I was confident in my ability to order.

"Should I do drip or bar"

"We have a single origin Honduras on Bar" which caused Don Octavio's eyes to shoot out lasers and him to rip off his shirt revealing the Honduran Flag tatted on his chest. At least that's how I imagine he felt as a Honduras native.

"Sounds good, I'll have a latte"

He corrected me, "You'll have a cap"

And a cappuccino I had. It was what I wanted, I just didn't know. A near perfect barista experience where they can size me up and correct my order based on what they know they have and what they think I want. As for the drink itself, the milk was over steamed with visible bubbles, and while there was foam art, it would have benefited from a slower initial pour. However, the espresso did a hard carry. The sweetness melded with the sour to make a thoroughly enjoyable drink. If I were to go again I would get just the espresso, the milk only took away from what I can surmise to be the unyielding power of Honduras.

Awesome lil addition to the lbk. Great coffee and amazing snacks! The lighting is good and plenty of seating is available. The baristas are super friendly and accommodating. 10/10 everybody should give it a try. Cheers!

Went here with a friend to get drinks and chat. It was great! It's such a small shop, but the barista was super friendly and helped us pick out our drinks. The baked goods were delicious, and he brought it right over to our table. Really enjoyed this little coffee shop! Good pricing too, we didn't spend very much at all but got full drinks. I didn't end up liking my drink, but that's because I chose something new that I wasn't sure of anyways-- I think herbal tea is more my thing, but I'm not upset at all with the place because I chose it. The one thing is that we got paper straws, which I am not a fan of because they quickly start to be disruptive to enjoying a drink, but that doesn't take a star off for this place.

Monomyth is my favorite coffee house in Lubbock. Delicious drinks, an array of sweet and savory foods, warm, kind baristas that seemingly greet each customer by name (including me, and I’m a newbie), a chill vibe and a charming location. It would be difficult to overstate how special it is. Wow.

Nice environment for studying and drinking your favourite coffee. The staffs are extremely friendly and helpful. Their latte is really good. They usually provide the coffee in cup.
