Great wonderful neighborhood vibe with good coffee and yummy and innovative baked goods! I wish they had Wi-Fi

For the past four years this has been my go-to coffee shop and if I were writing this in February of 2020 or before, I would likely be rating it four or five stars. However, I have been deeply disappointed with Davis Street's response to the pandemic and public health guidelines.
In the past, I have come in and listened to barista's carefully and calmly de-escalate situations with customers angry about a lack of dairy alternatives or WiFi; so, it seems absurd that management would encourage their baristas to speak out in regards to these things, but not a public health emergency. I have been in several times to grab coffee to-go and every time there are customers who wander in without a mask who go unaddressed which not only puts other customers at risk but also the staff. This is reinforced by the fact that I have consistently seen management and ownership wander through the cafe without a mask which sets an awful example for other customers and unnecessarily exposes their service team.
I understand that this is a difficult time for small businesses, but for a shop that focuses so much on the importance of community and drawing people together, it is doing an abysmal job at creating a space where the community can feel safe.
I am disappointed that this will no longer be a space that I can comfortably get coffee, but I am glad that there are other coffee shops within walking distance that provide and enforce guidelines to do their part in slowing the spread.

This sucks…
Can’t even have the opportunity to work here when I don’t even have the option for myself and others stay safe. I know that this state doesn’t have COVID restrictions right now but IT SHOULDN’T affect the fact that all I want to do is work. Whether or not you have the qualifications for the job, don’t even go to the interview with a mask on or you will get shut down on the spot. I myself wanted to apply here, but I have a friend that showed up to an interview with her mask on and was immediately asked “How do you feel about the masks?.” If that’s the case don’t bother using your gas to show up for an interview. I for one had COVID and I don’t wish it upon anyone. It doesn’t matter if your less likely have extreme symptoms or not, COVID should be taken seriously.

The staff and baristas are friendly with great service. Until this one interrogated me about my service dog. I came in one morning to grab an Americano. He asked me if my dog was a service dog. I said "yes, would like to see my card?" He said no, so I went and continued on with my order. By this point he was 2 questions in about what my dog does ? I was like he's my...then he interrupted. I couldn't get an order in w/o this Barista interrogating me. I felt super uncomfortable and harassed as my service dog did too, he began to bark at him. Shame on the owners who run this place. No need for this kind of service. Good coffee though!

I have been twice, and was quite happy with the quality and flavor of my coffee on both occasions. Rather, I was disappointed by the pretentious attitude and lack of flexibility in menu options. Also, as much as I respect green efforts, they really should have paper to-go cups- paying $2 for a mason jar, even if I can return it for a refund, is highly impractical.

Perfect neighborhood spot. If you live in North Oak Cliff, you'll probably run into someone you know. The coffee & espresso is too quality, the baristas are kind & friendly, and the whole place feels warm. Very eco-friendly (no plastic, no to-go) and very community-friendly (no Wi-Fi to encourage people to interact with one another).

Best shop in Dallas. Coffee, Culture, Community, good people. Really good patio

Great location near the Bishop arts district. The atmosphere was nice and the interior made almost all completely of wood(maybe some reclaimed?). Right when you enter the shop you see the baristas working quickly and are very friendly. Indoor and outdoor seating available and also an empty shell of a bus in the back patio stocked with seats and tables as well. I enjoyed the Van Buren and hopefully will return when I come back to Dallas.

Outstanding espresso expertly prepared. Holds its own against the better independent coffee houses in Seattle, Portland, etc. Great funky atmosphere and friendly staff. They've been roasting here for eight years.

Best smelling coffee shop I have ever stepped foot in. The smell of baked goods is heavenly. Cold brew was good not great. Not having skim milk or any milk alternatives is very odd for a coffee shop.
