Ok, I honestly don't think that I can remember leaving a bad review or at least a 1 star review. I can't in good conscience leave anything but a 1 star. When me and my 2 friends entered the coffee shop/bar, we were instantly given snide looks. Granted we didn't look like the other patrons in the shop but we were and are always courteous and jovial to all service persons. We have all been in the industry and know how it can be. When we ordered we were made to feel like we didn't order the right thing and when I did get my order it wasn't made correctly. There was no vanilla in my latte and when I asked if I ordered a vanilla latte she said yes and rolled her eyes. I commented that it didn't taste like there was any vanilla in it and she didn't offer any more. I had to then ask for more. She then with a very reluctant look took my coffee and put another drop in. It was terrible. My friends and I tried to inject some levity into the situation by trying joke around with the staff, the man was a little receptive but the woman was actively supper snooty and we were made to feel like we were not cool and definitely not welcome. When my friend asked one of the other patrons if it was always like this in here the woman asked us to leave. Obviously we left! I don't want to be any where I'm not wanted.

“Only visit coffee shops that begin with the letter F,” was the sage advice I received before checking out Figure 8 coffee Purveyors in Austin, Texas. I normally get Americanos, and for this trip I had two I got to choose from. My Ethiopian deflection had a soft raspberry notes with a wonderful cacao finish. The space was modern while welcoming. Others around me seemed comfortable for better there while they meet with friends or worked on their things they need to work on. I would have gone more if it was more central, but that maybe way it had a local feel to it. So I wouldn’t change that.

Great space, excellent coffee, wine for sale too that looked like a killer selection.

Great place, very friendly baristas, good coffee and relaxed seating outside (pets allowed)

I really enjoyed their Iced Latte and their chocolate croissant. Coffee was very strong and flavorful and the croissant was crunchy on the outside and moist inside. Service was super friendly. Highly recommended.

The guy behind the counter told me that they don’t use many syrups to cover up the taste of their coffee. I just nodded and thought ‘I’ll be the judge of that.’

I got a almond milk latte and he was RIGHT! This is super smooth and ‘fluffy’ latte. It was worth the $5.50 for sure.

Also, their focus is on coffee and tea. So not much food here.

The atmosphere was nice and they’re very dog friendly!!!!! They also had a few pastries available. Their latte art is amazing. It’s not the best coffee out there, but it’s pretty good.

Updating my review after my second visit 3 years in the future - still 4 starts for me

Overall, the coffee gets a 5, the tea gets a 2.5, vibe gets a 4.5 and service, a 4.

Figure 8's coffee beans taste is exceptional. The only thing that would make it better is if they packaged beans in compostable or recyclable packaging and if their beans were at least fair trade (organic would be even better). Understand that they may well be that, but it's not easy to find that info.
I also get that tea is not the focus, but the iced tea was very watered down.

As for the coffeehouse, the inside is small and feels a bit tight, but there is ample sitting both inside and outside. Their shady patio is awesome. I can appreciate that they are trying their best with the small space they have.

In comparison to other Austin and greater-Austin area coffee shops, the vibe is not as warm (based on 2 visits). Baristas don't necessarily seem to go out of their way to make you feel seen and heard. Where to wait after you order or where to retain cups/classes is not straightforward. However, the lovely smell of roasted beans is soothing to the soul :)

Needed to kill some time waiting to pick someone up from the airport and found this place randomly. Such a great find! Super comfy, nice service, and the coffee's were great. Seemed like the place to go for students to do work. Hipstery too.

This is a sorry excuse for a coffee shop. Unfriendly staff, outright rude. I’d rather get gas station burnt coffee that’s actually hot. They serve lukewarm at best. Lacked flavor. Will not be wasting my money here ever again
