Our waitress Dawn was on point . We never had to ask for a refill, we didn't even have to ask for extra napkins , she just brought . A drink was spilled and she didn't hesitate to bring us towels to clean up the mess . She was awesome!!

I have lived in Abilene for 14 years. These tacos are better than anywhere else, the vibe made me feel like I'm back in Austin again. I will come back often.

We would certainly recommend The Local. The food was perfect and the staff very friendly. We really enjoyed the atmosphere in the restaurant.

Food was AMAZING!! Taken here the day before Mother's Day to celebrate early without a crowd. Avocado & bacon salad was good. Favorite tacos were Three Step & Grilled shrimp. Our daughters did not care for corn tortillas. Definitely recommend!

Four stars for service. Brooklyn was amazingly friendly and attentive. She was such a pleasure. Food: The chicken tacos were flavored well, but the tortillas were a little soggy. As a plus though, I was served the largest slice of cake I have ever been served in my entire life. It will last days.

We went to this place to sit down and have a bite with my boyfriend's family. It was a great place. We got seated after a while, but they were really sweet and put a table together for us since we had a larger party.
Cons: The Margaritas were mostly ice and the food comes in small portions.
Pros: It was good! And the green rice was amazing! We also had an appetizer which was basically chips and this really bomb queso, so all in all it was great. Not too loud of an atmosphere. Service was awesome. My son really did not like his enchilada tacos, but it wasn't bad for the price and ambience.

Very disappointed. Was glad to see them reopen however went in Wednesday night at 8 they were rather slow only 4 other tables had people at them. They had several servers working. A server brought water to our table approximately 5 minutes after we sat down and after 20 more minutes of no one coming to our table we left.
Side note all of the descriptions have been removed from the menu.

This restaurant, The Local, has taken Mexican style food to a new level. They consider themselves a Taco restaurant and bar but so much more with different kinds of meats, vegetables and flavors.
The store front was originally a high end jewelry store that opened in the 1930's and a one of a kind Mosaic style tile floor.
The owners hired a gentleman from Europe to create the same floor and it is close to the original design. Took weeks to put in one small tile at a time by this man by himself.
The restaurant is located in Downtown Abilene between 2nd and 3rd on Cypress Street. They're open on Mondays at 4pm, Tuesdays through Saturday from 11am to 10pm. Closed on Sundays. Not sure how long the bar stays open but they have a website.
I encourage you to come in have some great food, drinks and enjoy this unique style of this restaurant with family, friends and co-workers.

My wife & I shared a two taco lunch with three sides this afternoon! Our meal was one of the best meals either of us has had anywhere! The Sopapilla dessert, also shared was fabulous too! Our service was just as exceptional! The renovated structure is also exceptional in its design & atmosphere! If your in the Abilene AREA, don’t miss this dining gem!

I love their food! The Mac and cheese is amazing, as are the carne asada fries. The atmosphere is fun and relaxed.
Pictured: Messy, but delicious carne asada fries!
