I went here for lunch today and had a spinach and bacon salad and it was divine. I loved the atmosphere of this cafe and enjoyed the comradery of the servers working with the customers. Will be back for coffee soon!

The staff were friendly but a little aloof. The breakfast food was alright but not exciting. The fruit tea was good but the vanilla latte was forgettable. All-in-all, it wasn't bad but we're not looking forward to a return visit. "Middle-of-the-road breakfast spot".

I've been going to Mama's Java for a few years now and have always enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. Today I went in with my son to order some food while we waited for his sister to finish up gymnastics. I ordered a Breakfast Sandwich and a bag of Veggie Straws. The young girl told me the total was $7.55 so I proceeded to give her a $10 bill and then said "Oh, I have change for you" and dropped two quarters and a nickel in her hand. She went to give me change but the drawer was out of ones so she left it open and turned to the drive thru cash register. She came back and handed me $2.45. I politely handed her the 45 cents and said "I'm sorry, this isn't the right change". She said, "Yes, it is. You gave me $10." To which I replied, "I gave you $10.55 so the change should be $3.00 even" at which point she said "You didn't give me any change, you only gave me a ten". I knew my son was hungry and there was an older man waiting to order so I wasn't going to argue with her. In my frustration, I just replied "Nevermind" and walked to a table. Not only was I not given the proper change but she kept the $.45 as well so after giving $10.55, for an order of $7.55, I walked away with $2.00. I'm sure the drawer will reflect that at the end of the day. What frustrates me is not the loss of the dollar that was supposed to be returned but that she didn't even remember what I had given her just seconds before and then proceeded to tell me I was wrong. It was embarrassing. I honestly think she had typed in the computer that I had handed her $10 and then didn't know how to do the math herself. I didn't bother to stay. As soon as I received my order, I left. It's really disappointing to have an interaction with a business, know you are in the right and still be treated like you're the one that did something wrong. Mistakes happen. The best thing she could have done other than remember the details of the exchange to begin with is to own up to it. It wouldn't have been a big deal.

Everything here is delicious. And the Tomoto Bisque is likely the best you'll ever have.

HORRIBLE!!!!! Stopped in for the first time this morning for breakfast. Don’t waste your time. Ordered 2 Classic breakfast one with bacon and one with sausage. Both arrived at the table Stone COLD. When I reported it, they didn’t seem to care. We got up and left. $22.00 down the drain. McDonalds serves a better breakfast.

Fantastic place! Best chai in the whole state (Big Train, my fave!!), delicious sandwiches, friendly and knowledgeable service. Love the cozy-yet-contemporary atmosphere, and being able to see their roasting room. So cool! I recommend this place to everyone, and really enjoy every time I visit. <3 :D

I first had mama’s java three years ago, and I immediately became hooked. There are so many wonderful things about this place: the (best) coffee, the menu selection, there’s a drive thru, the amazing service, and the great atmosphere if you want to enjoy your coffee and meal inside.
My sister who lives in Birmingham has me buy some beans from MJ for her, because it’s just that good. I just moved out of state, but I plan to continue to buy their coffee (and already have). :) 10/10

Great place for a good local brew of coffee. My hubby is a more of the coffee drinker, I'm Hot Tea. Wished there were menu options for Hot Teas! Wish it stayed open a bit later-my Zen moment of the day is at 3 or 4pm!

I love this place for its small-town feel, cozy vibe and variety of menu options. They continue to add more gluten-free options which is so incredibly helpful! If you have an opportunity, check it out (their omelets are my fave!) and support local business

Great breakfast place. Omelet was extraordinary. They offer a wide variety of organic and good-for-you choices for those wishing to live a healthier lifestyle. Unbelievable coffee selection.
