Memphis Chess Club

Great place for all ages. Parking garage right next door makes it super easy to visit. My 12 year son loves to play chess here.

Stopped in for coffee and got a board game in as well...that was some nostalgia! Great vibes in this place - and large cookies 😋

The Memphis Chess Club is a fantastic club and event venue. As a member of the club I have enjoyed many tournaments and lessons and visits here with friends. The location is great, the ambiance charming, and the food and coffee excellent. I am here this weekend for the 61st Annual Mid-South Open, and the tournament has been professionally run and a fun experience.

Typically I really like chess club but the poor kid they have at the front....bless his heart...seems VERY confused and lost. Took over an hour to get our drinks. After 45 min we had asked about our drinks and he said he already made them and thought we got them, we hadn't and he had only made one drink for the lady behind us. He then asked us what we even ordered and STILL made the wrong drinks! The customer behind us also got his order messed up. He must have gotten thrown to the wolves with no training, because he had no idea which way was up or what he was doing. Either a training error or just an aloof person, I'm not sure, but either way it was frustrating and disappointing.

This is the perfect place to chill, have coffee, and learn much more about chess. The food is pretty good too. It's quiet enough to focus on your game or to study. The membership fees are pretty decent and classes are offered for newbies. The staff is very friendly and I enjoy each visit.

Stopped by for a bit. Atmosphere is great! Wooden tabletops are well done with chessboards. Got a salad to go while here and it was pretty good.

Memphis Chess Club is SO CHILL! Beers plenty, coffee, tea, soda are all available, AND the deli is FANTASTIC! 😋🤤

Even if you're not a chess player, there's no intimidation. Just friends hanging out.

Tournaments are DEF available, but way above my pay grade.

The Memphis chess club is the perfect place for chess, studying, or just something quick to eat. The food is amazing in the employees couldn’t be nicer and don’t even get me started on the clean bathrooms. I would highly recommend visiting this place if you have any interest in chess or just one to relax with a good vibe…Are you happy Mike

Pizza was legit and better than most pizza restaurants. Cool atmosphere even if you don't like chess. Best meal I've had in Memphis to date.

Good coffee, great vibe, excellent theme and feel. Come for the chess and stay for the feel. Great for working out of, nice and quiet. Even got myself a Club chess set!
