Driving through town in need of coffee and some breakfast we found this GEM. Drove past all the chain places to support local. It was the cutest coffee shop I have ever been in, I could have stayed half the day just to enjoy every comfy sitting nook. The coffee and lattes we had were delicious, and the breakfast items were yummy and vegan friendly. The staff was friendly and efficient. We will be back when passing through town again. Until next time.

Great food and coffee. It is on the pricier side $35 for 2 coffees, a sandwich, and a wrap. The wrap was missing chicken on half of it which is a bit frustrating and also included tomatoes even though we asked for no tomatoes. The coffee tastes wonderful though and I highly recommend.

The Lavender Honey Latte was amazing and truly service with a smile!!

I’ve been coming here for a month since I found out about Backroads ! It is a very comfy, vibrant low key spot for some great drinks and pastries. I’ve tried almost all the pastries and the best ones are the chocolate croissant and muffins. Cinnamon rolls and Scones are alright, nothing crazy. Prices are ok too. The ambiance and vibe is perfect ! Whether your going for breakfast or to study it is a great coffee shop environment. Come out and check them out the staff is also very sweet. If it weren’t for the slightly high prices for the pastries and food it would be 5 stars. If your coming for your coffee it is 5 stars as they offer refills ! Great gem of Watertown a must go !

If you're looking for the best on the go breakfast sandwich in town, this is your stop. Sausage Dakota croissant sandwich is huge and made of real ingredients. So worth a little over 5 bucks. Great atmosphere and staff. Worth trying out. Their lunch is also very good

I’ve been to Backroads many, many times. It’s a cozy coffee shop in an unexpected location with good drinks and food options.
My complaint is that the ownership isn’t very customer-service forward. We’ve had two experiences with the owner, where we had legitimate questions/complaints about the food and instead of offering a genuine apology (which is all we really were asking for) she got defensive and almost accusatory.
Latest example, my gluten free toast came out with huge holes in it - clearly not their fault since they didn’t bake the bread, but instead of saying “I’m so sorry about that” or “I see that.. can I get you an extra slice?” She said “well, you try to find a different gluten free bread, let me know.”
I’ve never been asked by a restaurant to source my own products, or reprimand me for pointing something obvious like that out. Kind of an awkward encounter at a coffee shop. But overall, still like the place.

Like the Iced coffee, service sucks.
My brother ordered a scotcharoo. I ordered a cinnamon roll. I ate my dry, tasteless, devoid of cinnamon piece if bread with frosting ( buy one get one free - no doubt) as my brother waited at the table for his bar. He was given a number placard, so we were assuming it would be delivered to our table. 20 minutes later.... no bar. Finally he went up and asked for it, no longer wanting it. There was no apology presented to us customers. Why have table numbers if no one is going to bring you order? Quite the price for it too. I'm kinda sorry I tipped. Place was not busy.

Cute, clean, and cozy! My latte was perfection.

We are from out of town and my wife and I stopped for an afternoon iced coffee. It was so good. Even with added vanilla and cream it was not overly sweet and was the perfect afternoon pick me up. Their food menu looked delicious too, looking forward to trying it sometime.
