Dave's Coffee

I ordered Blind Big whole bean on line after i purchased by chance at a local grocery store in Haddam CT....I was so impressed with the flavor, body and smoothness of this coffee i ordered more on line.....two days later they were at my door...I cannot say enough about this coffer and their customer service....GREAT JOB!

I visited Dave's on a fairly busy day during memorial day weekend. Overall I was not super impressed with the drip coffee or my cortado. They were made well, and don't get me wrong the staff was helpful and efficient, but I wasn't impressed with the end product. Both drinks were lacking in strength and flavor. The establishment was also crowded and congested in some of the main areas and I constantly had to move around while in line and waiting for my beverages in order to accommodate other's similar needs. I'd be interested in visiting off peak hours or at their other location in Providence. I did purchase some intriguing black label coffee and I am excited to try that as well.

Great coffee; great food; great people. What more can you ask for?

2 Stars, I'll get to why;

For service, this place gets a solid 4 stars. Good atmosphere, which in sure is a hit with the many laptop+headphones college kids sitting at the various tables. Not to sound like a boomer but it's a very "hip" establishment. Dim lighting, weird ambient music that initially had me looking for a humming and malfunctioning refrigerator.

As for that 2-star rating...

Coffee syrup (used in coffee milk), for 12.59, gets you 15 servings. Now, it being a coffee production company, I imagined it would taste more like coffee when made I to coffee milk.

It doesn't smell like coffee, and it doesn't taste like coffee. It's got a weird aftertaste that might be the result of the natural tapioca thickener. But it's not coffee.

Conducting a blind taste test against Autocrat, Grey's, and Dave's, the coffee milk at equal coloration of mix scored second, above Autocrat by far, but definitely losing to Grey's, which you can smell the coffee in when you open the bottle.

Mass production, perhaps, has left Dave's, a coffee company, without the taste of coffee in their coffee syrup.

(And yes, once again, I know you don't drink it straight. Perhaps Dave's intended it to be used on only ice-cream)

Very good coffee! Super fast! Very convenient to east beach area. I Didn't get any of there baked goods but they looked good. I was a little confused by the parking, you can pull up the drive way or park on the side of the road and walk up.

Used to go to Dave's quite a bit. Sandwiches were always great, but never had a coffee I liked from there. And now with Espresso 41 around the corner I don't think I'll be getting coffee from there anymore. But, Mr. Dave is the friendliest guy! Very helpful.

In the summer this place is packed and the wait is long, but it's well worth it. Dave's has the best Chai around. I'm so impressed with the baked goods that come out of their tiny little kitchen! The honey corn muffin is my favorite!

One of my #1 coffee destinations. In terms of quality alone, Macondo in Stonington or Coffee Exchange providence are better. However, Dave's has the beach side charm, beautiful grounds (pun intended), and great proximity to Watch Hill which makes it just as good as a destination as cafes with marginally better coffee.

Great local place to drink coffee, work on your computer ( free WiFi) and eat home made goodies like scones and muffins. They have nice Dave's logo mugs, t-shirts (heavy duty cotton great quality) and coffee syrup. Nice gifts to take back home if you're visiting.
