My son I went out for lunch and split the barbecue platter. I think it went for around $60. It included brisket, barbecue, this amazing sausage with cheese in it, macaroni and cheese, slaw, coleslaw and amazing homemade super thick tortillas. We both have really good appetites and my after my shepherd dog was also there who got a good bit of the food, and we still left some there unfortunately. Of course my dog could have eaten it all had I gave it to him :-) The food was so good! The brisket melted in your mouth and the barbecue was so fantastic! I am normally on keto but I cheated and had the tortillas which were amazing and the macaroni and cheese which was maybe the best I ever had! They also had some type of peppers mixed in with them which made them incredible! I highly recommend it and think it is a great value!
Pricey but I was ok the food and service was very good ! 👍
What a great find. New to the neighborhood and very happy to know Smoky Mug is so close. Breakfast burrito 🌯 was yummy. One of the best I have had. Coffee is great too. UPDATE: Second trip for BBQ and it won't be the last. These folks have got it going! Brisket today, pork on the next trip.
I thought our food was so tasty!!
The coffee is excellent. The BBQ fantastic. What more could you want? Sometimes the wait can be a bit long, sometimes BBQ gets weirdly expensive, but smoky mug is fantastic and a true neighborhood jem!!!
It’s beautifully decorated which caught my eye, decided to stop in and give it a try. Didn’t expect to spend $60+ on two brisket sandwiches, one side of mac&cheese and a small order (4-6 pieces) of burnt ends. I really enjoyed the burnt ends, the brisket was very fatty lacked flavor, and the mac and cheese was a runny consistency closer to a cheese sauce for nachos. Not my cup of tea for the amount of money, but the coffee was good.
Best barbeque in town, hands down. I didn't think a coffee shop and barbeque spot combined would make sense, but it actually really works well. Don't miss the tacos at lunch.
Don't bother... They don't have anything on their menu.......... ... ................................... . .. ....Tried again and got the .... " we only have sliders not the full whole sandwich..." I said .. "Ok thanks bye"... And got the old..."Oh Ok".... So again don't bother to waist your time. You will not get what you went there for.... ..... I've tried several times to get the "BBQ" .... Ive never even seen meat at this place..
$13 for just a sandwich is outrageous and not a lot of pork on it
I chose The Smoky Mug, after reading several reviews. My expectation was better. Friendly crew, great food, relaxing atmosphere and most important, clean bathroom. I'm totally satisfied. On my next visit to Richmond, I will comeback to Smoky Mug. :-)
The sweet cream cold brew is a must! I took a chance on the strawberry vanilla cream, and normally fruit + coffee isn't my thing. SO GOOD!
BEST damn brisket in all the land... And the pork belly burnt ends. Everything is good, even the music. + the staff always make it a great experience! Caitlin, Boo, Austin, and the nice fella with the mustache whose name I don't know, were especially kind and helpful today! Please don't get rid of the Ranch Water. Thanks y'all!
This place was so delicious I cant wait to come back. Brisket taco is stupid good. I got there too late to try breakfast but coffee was good as well. Great little place here
Bring your appetite! Large portions. Visited this little hole in the hole and was not disappointed! Great food and the staff were very personable. Stop by and grab some brisket with the sausage! You'll thank me later.
The staff there is great! Super friendly! But the place is small, minimal seating and the seating there is very small. Never think of dining in there in the cold weather! Its freezing! They need a bigger building and indoor seating
First time there…but many more in the future ❤️ food was incredible and the staff were amazing
Better place than I've been in. And I've been in some HOLES. Thanks for treating me like a human! I know now it is appreciated.
Good classic roasty espresso and cozy atmosphere
The Smoky Mug is amazing! It's a coffee shop and Tex Mex BBQ joint rolled into one. We had the sliced brisket, a brisket sandwich, smoked sausage, pulled pork, mac and cheese and it came with pickled onions and pickles. We also had some drinks from the cafe area, a cold brew coffee and a dirty chai. Everything was absolutely delicious and that bbq was some of the best I've ever had, and that includes what I've had from multiple parts of Texas.
OMG. Great Place! Pulled Pork, Brisket. I don't usually think much of Collard Greens, but these and the Mac n Cheese are really something else good. I'd live here if they'd let me.
