A cut above the rest in the area. Was in town from Phoenix, which has a lot of third wave shops and this shop felt comfy and inviting. Coffee was great, vibes are on point and the place was super clean and roomy. Felt like I was in Nashville, which is home to all of my favorite coffee spots. If I’m ever in town again I’ll be sure to stop in for another drink.
The coffee was not good. I got a cold brew and my buddy got "The Spring." The cold brew tasted like smokey water and was very transparent. Cold brew should be brewed very strongly and using dark beans. They do not brew strong enough (as evidenced by the transparency of the drink itself), and the barista informed me that they do not use dark beans. The Spring is a mixture of ginger beer and cold brew. Ginger beer is far too flavorful to be paired with their weak cold brew.
It has great environment and amazing Latte 😍i love it there to study
Those sausage rolls are killer. Amazing.
The Monomyth in Lubbock Texas: Nowadays I find myself in the Yee-Haw part of the state. That means that the coffee can double as paint thinner, and the coffee shops are designed off of prisons. Recently however, I had the chance to see Don Giovanni in Lubbock Texas, where the person who played Don Octavio stole the show. He then took me to The Monomyth. Not only was the shop not a prison, but the coffee didn't come with its own chemical code. While that is all well and good, it invites something different to fill the gap, hipsters, and hipsters they were. Styled beards, flannel shirts, flared mustaches, light leather boots, jeans, and man buns. I felt as if I was behind enemy lines and it was difficult for me to get my bearings. I'm not fluent in hipster, but I can hold a conversion, so I was confident in my ability to order. "Should I do drip or bar" "We have a single origin Honduras on Bar" which caused Don Octavio's eyes to shoot out lasers and him to rip off his shirt revealing the Honduran Flag tatted on his chest. At least that's how I imagine he felt as a Honduras native. "Sounds good, I'll have a latte" He corrected me, "You'll have a cap" And a cappuccino I had. It was what I wanted, I just didn't know. A near perfect barista experience where they can size me up and correct my order based on what they know they have and what they think I want. As for the drink itself, the milk was over steamed with visible bubbles, and while there was foam art, it would have benefited from a slower initial pour. However, the espresso did a hard carry. The sweetness melded with the sour to make a thoroughly enjoyable drink. If I were to go again I would get just the espresso, the milk only took away from what I can surmise to be the unyielding power of Honduras.
Wowzers! Yes! I was able to order my favorite, Chai Tea with Oat milk, and then they made it dirty, damn, and delicious 😋 💙🥰It felt as if I were drinking a cup of love. Thank you, I tried to make the review match the love amount not sure if I did. Namaste 💯💙😋🧘♀️🙌🥰💯
Great coffee and vibe. Passing through town on a long trip and this one popped up as a recommendation. Their specials aren’t overly sweet and the espresso has a very unique profile which is always a plus.
Great coffee, tasty vegan muffin and pleasant atmosphere.
Love this happy place!! Can't wait to go back. Kinda place that's just cozy and inviting.
Such a cute place to sip coffee and study/hang out! One thing to note is that they don’t offer any dairy-free options, so just keep that in mind.
Love this coffee shop near the Texas Tech campus in Lubbock. Super friendly, bright and airy, great service from everyone there and awesome coffee!!
Real cool mellow place great choices of coffee ill definitely go back
Great coffee and wonderful intentionality by the roaster at this shop. I’ve grown to be quite particular with my coffee preferences and this spot hit all the right notes. Bought a couple bags of coffee beans to take home!
Lovely cafe to study in! Coffee is great and staff are friendly.
Their coffee beans are excellent. Really good flavor.
In town for a spell, friend recommended Monomyth. I typically drink black coffee or cappuccinos, but decided to try the espresso solo, was not disappointed! Easiest shot I’ve had in awhile. Staff was very friendly and engaging. The only thing I would have changed about this experience is if I could buy retail. Love supporting local businesses, and they have excellent product!
Best coffee in Lubbock, though mine was a bit cold.
The atmosphere is nice, study place. It's in an awkward location ,but worth it! I had icecream with coffee in it, SSOOOOO DELICIOUS 😋
Wonderful small local shop! Day to day really great coffee and tea but also hosts community events often. Would recommend for anyone looking for a nice latte.
Let me explain the 3 stars. This was our 2nd visit to Monomyth coffee. If you want a latte (5 ⭐), these guys are great but if you want a drip, prepare to be disappointed. 😟I'm not sure if it was the bean/roast or if their coffee maker needed cleaning but I was not happy with my drip coffee today. I will be back if I'm in the mood for a latte. The staff is pleasant and service is exceptional and they have a great little shop.
