Excellent service! All of the food was awesome. Definitely save room for the chocolate cake
Great clean atmosphere with beautiful and creative dishes! Outdoor area that welcomes your pets! Great service! Highly recommend!
We stopped here just after noon on a Saturday and were seated immediately. The building is a beautiful early 1900s department store that has been well maintained. There is a lovely patio and full bar in one section and several small dining rooms. The tables were pretty close together, and it was somewhat noisy and difficult to carry on a conversation. I had the artichoke dip as an appetizer, which was amazing. It had a smooth, creamy texture with melted cheese and a large enough portion to cover all the bread. My husband ordered a smashburger, which was delivered on a toasted bun with a thick layer of melted cheese but no grilled onions or condiments. I had the arugula salad, which needed a few more slices of apple to add sweetness to balance the olive oil in the absence of any other seasonings. There were also a few yellowed leaves with brown spots. Quite a bit of time passed before anyone checked on our table, and there was no opportunity to rectify any issues until after the fact. We had to ask another server for our check to be delivered after a longer than expected wait. I would not mind trying it again, but I would ask for condiments ahead of time. From the time we were seated to the time we left was around 1 1/4 hours.
We drove from Austin to see this house from Texas chainsaw massacre Movie. Took a sandwich and a couple of drinks and it was a very nice place to spend time at.
Took 10 mins to get our non alcoholic drinks. Steak came out extremely under cooked, had to have it thrown back on the grill. Pasta was dry, our server was all over the place. Never checked on us only came by after we waved her down to ask for sauce or send the food back. Won’t be returning. Ever.
Good food.... eventually. Came in for brunch on a Sunday and they were definitely busy but servers were few and far between. The service was good when our waitress had time to get to us but they seemed terribly understaffed. When I did get my burger it was really good but the oily, soggy, undercooked fries were a disappointment.
Definitely will miss Grand Central Cafe. We have been coming here for years and it's not even close to what it use to be. I like to refer to an old saying, DONT FIX WHAT AINT BROKE. Well Hooper's is definitely broke. Dont waste your time or money. So so sad
This was one of the highlights of a recent vacation. Getting to go inside the house where The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was filmed was surreal. On top of that, the food and service were top notch.
Very nice restaurant stuck smack dab I'm the center of Kingsland. I went for lunch and had the shrimp tacos, which were very scrumptious. I look forward to tryimg something from the dinner menu.
hostess counter moved to back of dining area so people standing all around tables waiting. no order too seating. hostess talked to us then seated everyone that came in after us. we left without eating
Traveled two hours and visit was highly underwhelming. I had the smash burger. It was smaller than expected and the fries tasted old or reheated. My husband had the pancakes and omelette. He mentioned that the pancakes were dry in texture but the omelette was decent. Was not worth the $50 we spent on the tab. The women who worked there were kind and attentive which is why I gave this review the three stars. Only feeling of the history of the home was in the bar area where they have a few pictures of leather face hanging on the wall. Overall rest of the vibe seemed to be catered toward the locals and not to the fans of the movie Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
This place is amazing. Best eggs Benedict I've ever had. We go here quite often to get a light bite to eat, and the TX BLT is delicious, too. Our entire party of 8 thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast yesterday.
The food was AWESOME and the service was great as well. Our waitress(es) were so friendly and helpful and shared some pretty great stories. There was construction going on though and sadly they didn't have any of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre theme yet since the place changed owners but they did say they had some decor coming and the place was going to have twice the theme that it did before so I think a future visit is going to be a must.
Had the fish and chips. Not much flavor in the fish, french fries were cold and dry. Brisket tacos had a lot of fat. Only one waitress Not impressed
We came for the movie history but the food……Amazing! The Hot Chicken Sandwich is a must try!
Insane fun for the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie enthusiast. The menu is very good service was outstanding. The atmosphere has to be five stars because of the history of the home. Highly recommended whether you are a fan of the movie or not.
Waitress didn’t know the menu, smashed burger was not as listed on menu, Texas BLT was fair. Over priced food was so so.
We went there for brunch and loved it. The food was excellent, my favorite was the biscuits and gravy) but the real star was the bloody Mary! They were excellent. The house where Hooper's is located is where they filmed the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and they do have some fun odes to that movie. Don't go expecting the fastest service but do expect very friendly service. We will be back.
Great menu selection. When we went, they were out of the sweet potato hash. Pictures are of the Brisket Hash, which was so tasty but a little greasy; a side of biscuits and gravy with sausage, also super tasty but one biscuit; avocado toast Benedict was so tasty, and the potatoes were the perfect crispy level; the southern hash was smothered in gravy and great. No picture of the cowboy cookie but it was HUGE and delicious. Service was a little slow and servers needed some reminders for drinks, but everyone was quick to correct.
Super friendly staff and delicious food! Do yourself a favor and order a freshly made blueberry muffin, you will not regret it!! They have a full menu and a stocked bar as well. Admittedly, I visited because it is the original house from the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre film...BUT, Hooper's was a very welcomed bonus to this stop! The young lady serving us was incredibly nice and welcoming. After breakfast, we were able to walk around and take pictures. This is a stop any true fan of the TCM must make!! Before arriving, the Hooper's staff answered every question I had via email. I'd definitely recommend Hooper's for a great place to eat!!
