How is this place still in business!? They can't keep employees, the manager is TERRIBLE, and the drinks and food are below starbucks(and that's saying something). It's time we expect better, and NOT paying 5$ for a frozen jimmy dean sandwich or burnt/dirty tasting espresso drinks. Try 309 or Rivery coffeehouse if you want quality and do lamp post if you just HAVE to be downtown. Tldr....ewwww, NO!!

The blaring rock music ruined it for us. We were looking for a place to host our monthly group. You don’t expect loud rock music at a coffee shop. Impossible to have a conversation. Other than that we loved the inside. Please please pick better (soft/chill) music!!

Great cafe, great ambiance! They also have very unique Specialty drinks! Coconut Cream Pie coffee was good and something different.

Food was typical coffee house food, but the servers were great, and karaoke was fun.

As a delivery driver, Black Sugar needs to invest in proper take out packaging for their customers. The coffee spills out of the bag EVERY TIME! Staff gets slightly put off when I ask to double bag for this reason. EDIT: PACKAGING FOR TAKE OUT AND DELIVERY GREATLY IMPROVED! THANK YOU

Decided to try this place because of all the good reviews but we were pretty disappointed. Their menu online mentions vegetarian savory pastries, but when we went to order were told that they do not carry vegetarian options, only for the sweet desserts. But okay, whatever, not the first time this has happened to me. My partner ordered a kolache and refresher. Unless we didn’t read somewhere (likely), the refreshers are just soda lol. Like seriously just soda. And my partner’s kolache was still doughy inside with hardly any sausage. Cashier service was also poor and they did not seem interested in actually helping us. Maybe we came on a bad morning or something, but we have definitely been to better spots in the area.

Lived in GT before this place opened up. I went here for the first time yesterday when I was visiting and love it!! Best coffee I've had in GT, and their pastries are great too. I loooove the vibe in there. I wish I could stay to get drink here some night

5 people behind the bar yet still took more than 10 minutes to get an iced americano, as no one started on my drink or the people's order in front of me for about 5-7 minutes, not sure why... I got my drink and they had already put a bunch of cream in it which I didn't ask for. This is why people just end up going to Starbucks. Edit: Happened Saturday 3/11 around noon. Thank you

We have taken our new grad nurses here to meet and greet multiple times. Each time we are welcomed, have adequate room, and the coffee and food is always great. Good service and fun place to get to know my team in a unique atmosphere.

Walking the square on a Friday night since I’m new to town. Great spot for karaoke, but they’re very good! Lol Coffee is great too with a great, fun atmosphere. Would go back!

I gave them a hard review because I am diabetic and have to be very careful about heat I eat. They had some protein choices on their menu but they would not honor them and sell them to me. So I tried to order the crustless quiche which is on their menu. They would not make it. So then I tried to order a croissant with bacon and egg no cheese. They could not accommodate that. Then I asked about their breakfast bowl could they not add in the potatoes and the cheese and that was a no. I did order a medium roast drip coffee. The coffee was good. The atmosphere of the place was really nice. A friend and me enjoyed a nice visit and had great internet access. Since I am diabetic and need protein accomodations I will not be going back. However my friend had a banana bread and I believe had the quiche. She seems to really like it.

They were short staffed on Saturday and they were still very very quick and friendly. I have never seen employees who were sooo busy still taking the time to make sure tables were clean and trash emptied. 100% recommend coming to this coffee shop. The Nutella croissant was delicious

Where can I even start. I was in the other day and they had the worst Christmas rap music playing, not to mention their incredibly overpriced menu. They serve jimmy dean breakfast sandwiches and grocery store muffins for an outrageous markup and my pastry tasted a week old. I thought the coffee could be the saving grace, however all of their drinks are incredibly sugary to cover up either cheap or burnt espresso beans. Don’t go here it’s not worth the price even for the good customer service and ambiance.

Premaid pastries and baked goods microwaved to mush served on trendy slate 3 inches by 10 inches so your food dallas all over the table. They have cute coffee cups on display but serve in cardboard cups burnt espresso. Cinnamon role was dough and no cinnamon.

Love their blended caramel macchiato! I’ve been to different locations, but they’re always very well kept, clean, friendly and a nice place to study or work. One of my favorite coffeeshops!
