A great small town diner. We had a huge group of family and our waitress was amazing keeping all our orders and bills straight. We were visiting from out of town and this place is obviously a local favorite and very busy on a Saturday morning. They are known for their chocolate chip pancakes which are as big as your plate.

First time and last time. Was not told they don't take credit or debit when I ordered food, needless to say they were not friendly from then on.

Would love to try this place and give more stars but when you google the hours and it says opens at 7am but not the closing hour so you click on it and it says it’s closed all day every day! And they don’t answer the phone and mailbox is always full I’m not about to drive that far to find out. I emailed them and hope they respond as I’m sure I’m not the only one that’s noticed this. They had been listed as one of the best cafes on the news not long ago so we’ve been wanting to go and hope they are still around and correct this.

The waitress was friendly, but not very attentive, only asked one out of the group if she wanted a beverage other than water and didn't come back around with the coffee pot. Not bad service by any means, but she seemed distracted.

Good food. Remember if you’re Keto or low carb to ask for a extra egg instead “toast or cake.”

This is the best little cafe around. If you're looking for that old school small town food and feel, this is it. The staff are AMAZING, the service is very fast and the food is always amazing. A must try.

I had no intention on staying in this town last night, but when I left the Super 8 here in town - whose review will come next because they are a great group of folks - they recommended this place for breakfast. Long-ish story short? I just had the best omelet I've ever had in my life. I mean, who talks themselves out of ordering another one, to go, after the first bite? Shannon is awesome. And... I now understand why the back parking lot seemed too big and full for such a small building 🤔 I'm fat now. Too bad I just checked out of my hotel 🤣

In my humble opinion, the Great Northern Café offers the best breakfast in Park Rapids. I’ve been coming here for 25+ years and many of the same servers are still staff members and most of the clientele are regulars. It’s a no frills, inexpensive place to grab hearty breakfast staples like omelets, pancakes and skillets. On weekends and during the summer months you may have to wait for a bit, but it’s worth it.
