Obscene price for the coconut drink. I was visiting from New York and paid 8 dollars for an iced drink. It wasn’t tasty at all so I asked for a regular iced latte. They took the drink back and made me pay for a new drink. The iced latte tasted really bitter and watered down. My husbands regular hot latte was okay. Not going there again.
Best blueberry Latta I have ever had. 😋
Great place to have some nice coffee and relaxed vibe in the morning. I come here several times for my favorite breakfast its a Turkey Panini I got to say this got me hook! 🍞🥐☕️ I will keep come back to check out other menu as well 😸 but overall this place is great and chill~ Ps. My drink in the pictures is “Earth day matcha Latte” 🌎🍃 I’m not sure if this will be seasonal drink or all time but you should try if you like matcha
Delicious coffee, good service, clean restrooms, and a great facility... except for parking :/
Had a delish, complex pour over and enjoyed it in a comfy chair. Will come back.
Wonderful blue foam coffee. The ginger flavored cone was unique and delicious....never had before. However did not give full points on the service ...because the barista went away chatting with another person while I stood there waiting for my order. Everyone else was served. Since nothing was mentioned on why mine took so long . .I have to call it out.
Cappuccino is delicious. GF baked goods available.
Beautiful lattes and the most knowledgeable coffee baristas and roasters!
Great coffee in the shop and great beans for at home.
I love going to Black Diesel, the staff is always super friendly, and clearly knowledgeable about their products. They always have some sort of tasty seasonal drinks, and I love that they have a little plant shelf to buy new plants from!
$3.75 for a 12 oz black coffee from a carafe? I'm not sold. It's easily the most expensive non-pour-over brewed coffee I've had in Washtenaw County. You should be way more upfront about why what you're serving is special. Like, $2 of that better have gone to a farmer in Ethiopia. It tastes fine, but not $0.33 an ounce fine. Edit: First, I said your coffee tasted fine. The negatives in my review were about price and your business's story telling. Maybe if you, oh, I dunno, had prices on your menu I wouldn't have been so put off. I'm giving you a customer perspective. That said, I literally have a spreadsheet of coffee prices in Ann Arbor. I'd share it with you, but I'm not running your coffee business for you. Here's one piece of data: the next highest price I've paid for a cup of drip coffee is $3.50 for a 20oz at Ann Arbor Roasting Company. Are you telling me that every high quality coffee shop in A2 isn't making money selling coffee? I'll even give the benefit of the doubt that black coffee is a loss leader. But then you are leading with the lowest loss I've seen around. Your business is failing at telling the story of your coffee... even on your website. That story is part of being "third wave" lol. If you aren't making money on coffee maybe you should move your business somewhere with lower rent or chose a different business model. As it stands, I'd say you're a just profiteer of the New Ann Arbor™
Awesome Coffee Cave ! Fabulous finished basement feel ! Unique Coffee, friendly staff. If I could, I would compliment the owner
I had not been there for years, but a barista at Cafe Liv recommended their beans. I was very impressed with where they had come. Initially their lattes tasted like they were brewed in bus muffler, like Biggby. But, upon trying them now, so much difference. I put it on par with mighty good and roos. They are roasting their own beans now. I enjoyed their Burundi, Holidays Blend. and Victor's blend (Espresso). However, their Cafe Liv blend (exclusive to that cafe) is worth the trip to ypsilanti. Their staff are pleasant, but my first return trip on a Sunday afternoon, they seemed not in good spirits. But early Saturday morning, they were friendly and chipper. The atmosphere has the diesel character. Baked goods are nice too. Plenty of Gelato. Tea selection good, but their tea lattes are not great. Parking and Location are tricky if not a walker. Seating is good. Also close enough for a stroll around that part of A2. No notes on the bathroom yet.
The coffee is great 😊 However, my partner and I were looking for a bite to eat after a long day of travel. We both ordered paninis. They were tasty but very small in portion and way way overpriced for their value. I would not recommend getting food from them.
Black Diesel is a great all around place to enjoy quality coffee, with one caveat; the employee turnover. If you're into craft coffee, Black Diesel has a rotation of quality coffee from all the great regions--Africa, South America, etc. They also use these coffees for their "on tap" drip blends, which is a nice touch--no cheap house blend here! The only small problem is they have a seemingly high employee turnover rate. This means ordering things like a French Press, Aeropress, or other specialty brewing method, may yield inconsistent results, or, no results at all--barista didn't know how to use a french press, one time we went there. Staff is usually attentive and kind, which shows they're attention to hiring people who want to be there; even if it's for a short amount of time.
Well kept and clean, the aesthetic was lovely and the employees were kind and helpful. Food and coffee were delicious. Definitely going to come in again!
I love this place such lovely warm and cozy place to enjoy a cup of coffee
Lovely seasonal lattes. Great environment for working or studying, particularly in the warmer months with their outdoor seating.
The coffee was amazing! Weird bad vibes from the person working the register and it made the coffee taste less good
Wonderful experience of "God's love made drinkable", do to speak. Barista was helpful and cheery. Coffee was rich and flavorful. Birthday discount is generous, and you can use it anytime in your birthday month! Unlike Starbucks hahaha. Check this place out for inside and outside seats. Great WiFi
