The food was very good service was very slow. And the trash was overflowing.

This place has consistently gone downhill since the new owners took over. The food and drink quality is terrible. The food used to be fresh and appealing. The chicken did not used to be of “processed” quality, now it’s chewy and rubbery. They are not using fresh ingredients and it’s obvious. The chicken salad is not anywhere close to how it used to be. The fruit and veggies are beginning to turn by the time they are served. My fiancé and I have both found hairs in our meals on more than one occasion. It’s as though they are only churning food out for a profit and not paying attention to detail or sanitary procedures. The espresso drinks are even terrible tasting. The prices are way too high to be offering such poor quality service. Continuing these practices will be sure to take the business down. Under the old owners, this place used to be one of the “gems” of New Castle. Very disappointed in what used to be my favorite local food place.
The Royal Cafe in New Castle, Indiana is a wonderful place to go and enjoy breakfast or lunch. I highly recommend the Ham and Swiss wrap (pictured), the blueberry muffin (pictured), and the White Knight frappe! The staff is extremely friendly and the food is well prepared and tastes GREAT!!! This is a great place to go and study, meet up with colleagues, book clubs, or visit with family and friends. The atmosphere is pleasant and they don't play extremely loud music that distracts from studying or being able to talk with people. I highly recommend this cafe to anyone that lives or visits New Castle, Indiana!!!

Dirty chai is legit.
The food has always been great, and the atmosphere is relaxing. I particularly like their soups and salads.
I wanted to like this place. I have gone there multiple times over the last year. The staff is very friendly and I believe the concept is good. However the food more times than not is less than average and the coffee leaves a lot to be desired.

This place rocks. Every time I come here I am welcomed with a smile and someone ready to take my order. The baristas are amazing at making espresso drinks!
I love this place and visit every week for a work lunch with a friend. Great atmosphere and food is good. Great, friendly staff. Please don't change :)
Very pleased with Cafe Royale it was a good experience I haven't been in there the guy working asked me what kind of coffee I drink help me make a selection the white mocha night drink is amazing honestly haven't ever had one better

Good latte, WiFi, comfortable groups of chairs and a huge room that they manage to divide into cozy, semi- private places to hang out with a few to several other people Excellent chocolate muffins.Nice people, nice vibe. Not fancy at all but just nice. Friendly, accommodating crew.

I agree with others that Carl is awesome but I had a bad experience today. Came in 3 mins before closing and the entire staff except for one was super agitated and complained loudly about not being able to leave on time. Only the guy in the blue shirt, younger guy, was pleasant and even chastised the rest of the staff for their poor behavior. Older lady in glasses was especially moody and rude.
