Stopped in on Memorial Day. This coffee spot is in an old converted two-story building. It has lots of seating in converted rooms on both floors, and the porch and side yard area. Bathrooms look like original, but get the job done. Service was prompt and friendly. The Americano was good, with a discounted coffee refill. It's convenient to the old downtown, a nearby RV Park, and the Saturday farmer's market. Homey place with old-fasioned vibe. Parking may be tight on busy days. Overall, a Two Thumbs up!
Good coffee. And awesome little coffee shop in all. One star less for the lack of smiles and friendliness. But still recommend 👍🏽
In town from Wisconsin. I always enjoy trying a local coffee shop. Nice historic house, lovely front porch with surrounding gardens and my iced latte was delicious.
Cute place and nice folks but the coffee is not really all that great. Kinda tastes burnt and lack of flavor unfortunately.
Cute place and my grandkids loved the muffins. I hate giving bad reviews but the latte was horrible. I even tried adding sweetener and just had to dump the whole thing out. My grandson also dumped out his flavored ice tea. If you like good roasted beans and quality coffee this is not the place, so sorry to say. I have tried several times through the years and it appears to be getting worse.
Coffee Trader is the coffee shop of choice in Montrose. I prefer the "old" shop, across the street from The Horsefly, which is a converted old house. One thing I love about it is that you can buy a (microwaved) breakfast sandwich any time of the day, long after that place with the golden arch (the one in town only has one arch, for some reason) will tell you "sorry, we're serving our lunch menu now." The coffee is excellent too, of course. In nice weather, it has a very pleasant, mostly shaded outdoor patio frequented by a flock of song birds. And the house has all sorts of nooks in it to settle into. My only quibble is that when it's busy, it can be hard to find an inside table that isn't within earshot of another occupied table, and that often drives me to sit outside.
Great coffee and service. Love that there are several areas inside and out for sitting.
Coffee was luke warm and burnt smelling, when I expressed my thoughts to the person behind the counter he told me “ I’m the owner and I doubt you have a great palate”. Wow, well then, I guess I’ll be leaving.///////REPLY: I have only ever left two other reviews, both of them negative yes but to say this is my hobby with two other reviews ever is funny. I should take the time to write positive reviews but 99% of the places I go are good and I would be writing reviews every day. I only take the time when a business is exceptionally rude or poor. Try and get it together.
Want to give a special shout out to my dudes Colbi and Xavier always going above and beyond to be of thee most excellent service. But also a special thanks to Hanna, Owen, Devin, and last but certainly not least miss Faith. This team of coffee connoisseurs knows their stuff and have an excellent attitude while showing it off.
Great place to meet friends and have a coffee
Had delivery. Nice little breakfast burrito
Nice staff. Cozy place. Good coffee
Edit* I never removed my experience this a review of your second location and reviewed it according to another customer complaining about their experience
Wow, never expected such a classy place and prices are well below Denver’s
Good but the employees consistently talk vulgarly to each other and prioritize their phones
Quick, friendly staff, cool older building. I had the sausage breakfast burrito and an iced decaf espresso. Both were solid! We ate outside on their shaded patio. So refreshing to stumble upon a great coffee shop! I think a bird bath would be a nice edition outside for the birdies!
Best sausage burrito I think I've ever eaten. The mocha was fabulous. Would rather "wake-up" at this cute coffee shop than Starbucks.
Whenever I travel, I always try to frequent local businesses, so I decided to stop by for a cafe latte. It was very good but the highlight was the location. It was probably an old home at one time, but is now this coffee shop. Lots of outdoor seating was available, much in the shade, which my bald head appreciates. I'll be back.
Ordered a iced americano that came out super weak and under iced. Beyond that, the staff was lackluster with a slight attitude. Would never return.
Nice little place to sit and have your morning coffee. I had an almond milk vanilla latte that was reasonably priced. Sat on the patio with my dog for a while.
