Microwaved vegetables, flavorless, overcooked meats which made me feel ill after. Really not very edible food

Very nice lady at the cash register, and the boba is amazing. i love going here. It has recently become my go-to boba shop, and the Korean food is really good. i definitely recommend anyone to go here if they're interested in good Korean food and boba drinks.
8 Star Cafe needs way more attention than it gets. I used to eat here a lot before I moved away, and I still think about this place. The owner is so nice and you have to try the spicy pork bulgogi!
Everything was great, casual spot where you order at the counter and then find a seat at a table. Soondobu with dumpling was really yummy with a generous serving of vegetables and a nice variety. Seafood pancake is more of a home style and much thicker than most other places but very flavorful and spicy, ideal for spice lovers. Taiyaki was made to order, sweet potato was really good. Best taiyaki I think I’ve had in recent memory, light crispy and soft, less dense but more chewy than others I’ve had, which I liked a lot. Food is made with love, the cook/chef came out to check on us and offer candy lol.
First time visiting. We ordered the shrimp fried rice, fish mackerel, japchae, pomegranate boba (cold) and matcha tea boba (cold). The only thing I truly enjoyed was the matcha tea. Everything else was oily! Too oily! The customer service and the decor were really good though. Being the only Korean spot in 29 Palms I have to give it 4stars because there is no other 29 palms Korean restaurant that makes boba to compare it to.
Stopped here to get bubble tea. Stayed for Korean seafood pancakes. Proprietor is adorable. My heart is full.
Pretty awful, food was mediocre at best extremely overpriced and there was not even rice with the bibimbap.
Absolutely delicious and authentic but the portion sizes are too small for the price.

Great place for yummy coffee and boba tea! The two ladies running it are so kind. The hazelnut latte was perfect for the windy weather.
The women is very sweet, the food is really good. I wish more people would go as the business was slow when we went, none the less if you’re in the area please give it a try you won’t regret it, they have boba and the dumplings are actually really good compared to other places that I have tried.
Highly recommended if you want to feel like you are eating a home cooked Korean meal. We just came back from 3 months in Korea, and 8 Star Cafe really hit the spot. The bulgogi and soft tofu soups are perfectly flavored, and we look forward to visiting the kind aunty who fed us well again!
Had awful curry next door. Thankfully I ordered some delicious dumplings from 8 Star. Didn’t come with any dipping sauce which was odd but still great.

This is a surpisingly rare find in the high desert - 8 Star Cafe delivers authentic homestyle Korean food that's honestly on-par with some more expensive Korean restaurants I've been to in LA. I appreciate the selection of choices on the menu; it caters to a range of palettes. From kimchi fried rice or dumplings, to Soon Dubu Jjigae, everything I've tried is absolutely delicious. Pictured are my favorites: the Spicy Pork Bulgogi and Japchae (glass noodles), which come with homemade sides (aka banchan) and rice. Their homemade kimchi is also very very good - better than what you'd find in most Korean Markets. I usually buy a jar to take home. I'll also point out that their boba and Taiyaki seem legit! I don't see many places that actually have a taiyaki press... excited to try it one day when I actually leave some room!
Delicious dumpling soup! Very good and filling. There was a lot of it so it was very worth the money. The people working here are very sweet and ensured I had all I needed for going out into the cold. Thank you, 8 Star!
Absolutely amazing experience!! The food was next level and the staff are so kind & work so hard to take care of their guests. Highly recommend stopping in here for a smile & a great meal!
Wow wow wow. Amazing owner and cook. Amazing staff. They went above and beyond to make our big group feel like family coming over on a whim to eat dinner. Absolutely delicious. Felt like I went over to my aunty’s for dinner & she was so happy to see and serve me and my friends. Thank you for your food and hospitality!
Incredible restaurant! Small shop with only one cook who’s created a. incredible meal. The staff is kind and grateful. I felt like I was getting a home cooked meal from my grandma. When I return to Joshua Tree, I absolutely will be coming back here
