I found this unique small restaurant by accident looking for another place, and I'm very happy I did cause it is my favorite restaurant in Fort Payne, AL. Why, you might ask? It's not every day you pull up to a store front with large planters outside the shop windows full of flowers with outside patio seating. I liked the American flag flying outside, too. It reminded me of a cafe in Europe. As I walked in the front door, I immediately noticed modern bright white walls, old molding, and exposed orginal brick block wall bottom half. The jaged drywall with old school bricks was a nice touch to old life to new beginnings for this shop. I also liked the unique lighting with orange light shades that made it pop with the white and tan colors. I loved this place not just for the decor but the food. I had the lemon bundt cake before my meal and liked the sweet but tart taste. The cake was moist, but just the right taste bite by bite. The main course was a breakfast bowl with black beans, rice, fresh spinach, sliced avocado, spices, and two eggs over easy. The eggs over easy warm goodness ran down through the different layers was yummy. The spices were perfect with a little bit of heat. Loved it! I also saw they sell great coffee and teas. The beans are from a town in Idaho, and I love to visit. I did talk with the owner, who told me the inspiration for the shop and menu is from different places visited around the world. I knew there was a European vibe from my travels. I haven't made it to Spain yet but one day. The best part of the food is that everything is fresh, not processed, and is very high quality and healthy. The prices were very reasonable, and there were lots of gluten-free options for people like me with an allergy. I didn't get the owners name, but tell her I sent you. This is a must stop if you are here for June Jam , just passing through or live here. It's not every day you find clean, healthy, and gluten-free high-quality meals Don't take my word f
The coffee was good. The Blueberry scone was . . . . PERFECT! The decor was bright and cheerful.
Amazing little spot in Fort Payne. The whole vibe of the place is super cozy including the bathroom. The homemade pastries all looked really good. I wish I could have tried them all. Would definitely recommend stopping in here if you are nearby.
Just passing through. Excellent food, coffee and service! We will definitely be back.
Delicious coffee and sandwiches, chocolate scone was perfect!
Super helpful!!! I called asking if they make cakes. They don't, but over the phone they gave me detailed directions on how to make a delicious coconut cake, and even told me what isles to find the ingredients on at the local Walmart! They went out of their way to be super helpful and friendly, and I'll never forget it. They saved my daughters birthday! Thank you all!!
cute and intimate :)
Ordered: Coffee w/chocolate & blueberry scone to-go. Service: Very helpful & pleasant young man. The Coffee was unlike any I had ever had before. It needed something. I added 2 teaspoons of sugar & it was great. The blueberry scone was really good too. 30 secs in the microwave & it was like a warm slice of blueberry pie (with pecans). The taste of the fresh blueberries really popped.
Great coffee, atmosphere, and super friendly
Short version: HORRIBLE customer service experience. This was my husband and I's first time in here. It was a recommendation from the owner of Bleu River of one of the best places to eat locally. We walked in at 1:30pm to grab a quick sandwich and be on our way. They close at 2pm but we knew we could eat in 10 minutes and be on our way. The girl walked out from the back and without saying "hi" or any other greeting just said "What do you want to order?" I grabbed the menu myself and was looking at it - it was double-sided so I asked, "Can I order anything on either side of the menu?" To which she replied, "We don't like it, but I can't tell you no." I said, "No thanks, we will go somewhere else and spend our money to eat - I don't want to to be treated like an inconvenience." To which she promptly realized the errors of her ways and what she said and started fumbling around for excuses and assuring us "No, really it's okay." I said no, we will go elsewhere - I told her "I'm not going to sit here and be treated like a hassle WHEN I AM A CUSTOMER TRYING TO SUPPORT A LOCAL BUSINESS." She tried asking us as we were walking out the door if this was our first time in there. Needless to say we left and will never go back there again. That is just downright rude and horrible customer service. I will choose to spend my money where I am appreciated.
Love the avocado toast and the iced vanilla latte. A place like this was definitely needed here in Fort Payne!!
Fresh berry & choco stones and pumpkin cinnamon roll. French pressed decaf coffee was rich in taste. Best coffee ever!
Super cute place with good coffee and a great menu! Grilled cheese with onion jam was delicious. Everything seemed house made and fresh.
Nice little coffee shop in downtown Fort Payne
What a gem to discover when passing through from Tennessee back to Georgia. Delicious food and coffee
Coffee was bitter
Food is SO good. Everyone there is always so kind. Don’t miss out on this place!
Fresh find, healthy food options. Cute decor.
My wife and I have been coming to The Bakehouse for the last couple of weeks to work and study. We've loved their French press using Doma coffee (we love good coffee) and each pastry or dish that we've ordered has been great. If you are looking for a good, small bakery and coffee/tea shop in the Fort Payne, AL, you need to check out The Bakehouse!
First time was really cool. The interior is absolutely adorable and the food and coffee was super good. I had a to go order when I came in and she got it fast. When I sat down, there was a couple that had ordered in front of me and they got a water to share. The woman gave them two very cute glasses and pulled out this glass bottle out of the cooler and maybe it’s just me, but that glass bottle made the water look like spring water. This place is unique for Fort Payne, Alabama
