Simply Bold Cafe

Not bad…but not great either.
We ordered three drinks and three breakfast sandwiches. The coffees were ok but my iced chai latte was all milk. When I asked that more chai be added, I was told they use a POWDER for the chai latte and adding more would only make the drink lumpy…so I drank what was basically iced milk. Two of the sandwiches were extremely tasty but my avocado toast was disappointing. The toast was soft and the tomatoes had no flavor.
I’ll happily give Cafe Bold another chance…but won’t go out of my way to do so.

The absolute BEST decaf iced latte! Simply Bold has definitely perfected the art of decaf!

Second time we have been here and both times the food and beverages were great. The staff is always very nice does a great job getting your order out to you. Nice little spot in West Reading, we will continue to go back there! Also love the little boutique they have.

Although I haven’t shopped at this coffee shop in quite some time, I was hoping there would be some transparency with any changes to the cost in additions added to a drink. If anything, these changes need to be vocalized when offered.

I recently ordered an iced beverage and was immediately offered a different type of milk to go with the beverage. I was shopping with a friend, and she wasn’t offered these additions, although we got very similar beverages (her order being an iced vanilla latte, and mine, an iced caramel latte). Because the milk substitution was offered, I was under the impression that there was no additional cost to substituting whole milk for almond milk, since it was something I wasn’t looking to change. Under normal circumstances, you are warned if there are any additional costs to changes in milk, syrup, toppings, etc. But I was charged a $1.50 for this substitution. I would understand if there is a warning from the Barista, but with the lack of transparency for additionally costs, I cannot justify this being a place that looks to serve quality, but to overcharge on products without the customer’s knowledge.

If I am not mistaken, there is only one sheet of paper behind the barista that specifies that there are changes to costs due to demand. But there is still no visual sign that states the exact costs of any substitutions in a drink. Why aren’t the Barista’s notifying customer’s of these additional costs?

If you’re looking for a place with transparency, maybe visit other cafes in the area that have listed their prices for customer’s to easily find.

Great coffee and atmosphere ☺️

I've been here a few times for coffee and once for lunch. I cannot say enough good things about it. I love the cold brew coffee and the food is great too. All of the employees are super friendly and the place has a great atmosphere. Definitely worth a stop.

Fantastic place to work/drink/eat. Awesome atmosphere and seating area with a lot of natural light. Coffee is great, food is also really good. Staff is friendly.
