Such a cool spot to stop for a cup of coffee! The interior is full of history and there is an incredible selection to choose from. The staff were very friendly and ready with helpful recommendations

I recently began working at a nearby business in Market Square and was happy to discover this charming coffee and tea shop. Up until Saturday 17th I had pleasant experiences there. There was a bit of a line so I waited patiently and looked at a few products they had for sale. However, on this day an employee stopped me from going to the register when my turn came and demanded that I show her what I had in my pockets and my coat. She said I had picked up three things and accused me of stealing them. She invaded my personal space and tried to stop me from going any further. I showed her what was in my pocket even though I knew I didn’t have to. She insisted that I take off my coat completely and said I would have to leave if I didn’t comply. She was extremely aggressive and unreasonable. I was in shock and still can’t believe that this happened. This experience was humiliating and deeply unsettling. Ironically there was a Juneteenth celebration taking place in the Square. Of course I won’t be going back, I’m writing this review to inform people of the type of environment you may encounter as a black person looking for a place to buy coffee in Market Square. This isn’t it.

Usually I love Nicholas Coffee. The workers are always happy to discuss the selection with you, and they have every sweetener and milk alternative possible free of charge. I try to stop in whenever I’m downtown. However, when I went on Friday I had a cashier who I hadn’t had before, and who just didn’t have the same attitude I’m used to. She barely said two words to me during the interaction, and didn’t even ask me if I wanted any milk or sugar, let alone what type I wanted. She made me coming in feel like an inconvenience, and I left dissatisfied with the exchange and my drink. I work in the service industry myself and understand bad days, but a bad day is no excuse for poor customer service. I feel like I now have to make sure she isn’t the one working the drinks to-go counter going forward, and that’s not a great feeling to have. I’ll still try to support you all because I don’t want to see a small business go down, but please work on your customer service. I see reviews going back years mentioning the same issue of poor customer service with one particular cashier, which is a definite red flag. Please work on this so you don’t lose long time customers!

A coffee lovers paradise! From the moment you walk in you are hit with the amazing aromas of all the coffees. The staff is wicked friendly and so incredibly knowledgeable. You can buy whole bean or ground coffee, teas, and they also have a full service coffee/tea bar.

Great coffee and friendly staff. They roast the stuff in house. They have a decent cigar collection as well.

My wife and I usually get Nicks when we visit Pittsburgh. Wonderful in person experience. We also order in bulk online. They are very quick. They accidently sent my order to the wrong address and after a brief call with some really nice people they reissued the order! Couldn't be happier. Strongly recommend.

Extremely pleasant customer service! Very friendly and very helpful staff. They make you feel like family here.
A LARGE coffee of the day is $2.50. A SMALL coffee of the day is $2. I don't know anywhere in Pittsburgh where you can get prices like that for coffee! Except HERE!
They are also so much more than just coffee and tea. Various types of biscotti, candy, snacks, tea & coffee supplies dedicated to the old tried and true way of making coffee and tea. Tea balls, tea bags, coffee containers for travel.
What makes this place so special? You can buy different types of coffee and make your own coffee flavor concoction at home! Coffee chemistry! Play with the flavors at home, while getting them FRESHLY GROUND right here in store! Chocolate mint coffee, we got you. Cherry Cordial coffee, we got you. Hazelnut, you're covered. From basic to extraordinary...they got you.
If you are a cigar aficionado they have cigars of various types for sale.

Nicholas Coffee is an excellent coffee shop selling a wide variety of fresh roasted coffee and teas as well as other related items. Their coffee and tea selection is probably the best in the city. The staff is courteous and friendly, although at peak times, they can be quite busy as they not only have to wait on customers, but also have to prepare bulk orders to be shipped to restaurants and other retail outlets. In addition to their fresh roasted coffee beans, I highly recommend their coffee bar. It isn't fancy and doesn't offer the range of drinks that you can get at some chain coffee shops, but the price and quality can't be beat.

It was really good the first couple of times I ordered from them. Expedient delivery, fresh roasted coffee of single origin. Tried to place another order today, I only order about a pound of whole bean coffee at a time because I like it as freshly roasted as possible when I drink it. It wouldn't allow me to order unless I ordered like 4 lbs. in bulk for some reason. Otherwise it kept saying "no shipping to this location for this weight amount" or something. It charges like $15 for UPS shipping, not sure why ordering 1 lb. is a problem today when it wasn't a problem for the last few weeks.
